My blaster is finally up and running after three or so weeks of being in pieces. I was riding at RR when my quad's oil pump failed and the bore got scuffed. My dad had to order an oversize piston from Vito's because the bore was so scraped up he had to rebore it. Everything is now installed, and I need to know the best way to break in a new piston for the Blaster. Can anyone offer any insight? Thanks.

dont ride it too hard, dont ride it to fast, seeing as its a 2 stroke that shouldnt be hard Evil since you ride at r/r i wouldnt do any mudding untill its properly broken in.

if u let it idle for a couple hours all the o rings and things will seal and get broken in.

Use double the oil and ride reasonably for a couple rides.

Being a 2 stroke owner I think since we are replacing top ends more than 4 strokers I'd say don't over 3/4 throttle for 1 full tank. Ride for a little then let it cool down and repeat process. Variable rpms with multiple heat ups and cool downs. Rings have to seat and there is much more friction on a new cylinder/piston combo than a broken in setup. Friction=heat.   At first only go 1/2 throttle max then once at 1/2 tank then you can go 3/4 throttle.  I think this process works great. I don't care what other websites say, I went 6 yrs on the same top end on my 250 before I re-did it doing this process. I beat the piss out of it and it ran like a raped ape.   -Mark

When I had a 2 stroke I would let it idle for 5 min.  Shut it down and let it cool.  Then I would Ride it at 1/2 to 3/4 throtle for 10 min.  Let it cool.  Then you are ready.

The key is to let it cool all the way down.
