DVX 400 likes to idle at 6000 rpms!!!!

today i went to ride my bike around the yard and it kept stalling, so i took the carb apart and found it was jet that was clogged so i sprayed some carb cleaner in it and cleared it. i put everything back together and fired it up and it started. except instead of idleing at the normal 1600 rpms, it idles at 6000rpms. i tried to adjust the idle, and nothing affected the rpms. what are some leads, i know to check the cables and etc.

it's not the cable, he has checked the cable and its working fine, and it's not held open, it's closed when its supose to be, so it's not the throttle

Only time I had that happen it was just what bluesman said the throttle was adjusted to tight. If it's not that then I can't imagine what it could be. I know you say you checked the throttle but have you tried backing it off a few turns. It's not always something that can be seen with the eyes, doesn't take much.

tonight i cant do much since the neighbors dont appreciate my bike, let alone it idleing 6000 rpms while i mess around with cables, and etc.
bluesman i got the pm, i will call you tommorow if i cant figure it out.
Most likely i will go over atvtrailers place tommorow if hes not doing anything and see whats going on.
Thanks hollywood, i will keep you up to date on what i try, and narrow it down some more.

6000rpms is crazy... Check your CDI. (unplug then plug)

get with bluesman, or call us at the shop.
There is no way to my knowledge that a CDI could ever cause that problem.

The cable was too short, and couldnt lengthen it any longer, so me and atvtrailer rigged something up (thanks to Mr. JB Weld).
