i have state farm. farm bureau is good if they sell in you area. i didnt realize that these guys (insurance companies) dont want to over extend in some places so they just stop selling for a while. having a new house should be hard to find someone. have a house over 50 yrs old and the big guys dont want to touch you.

We have State Farm.  They are a stable company, but like all insurance companies, the coverage has been slowly getting chipped away over the years, and higher premiums/deductibles.  Be careful though, cheapest is not always best.  Lots of people found out the hard way last year when they made claims.  Hopefully you never will have to, but this is Florida.

Been with state farm for 25yrs. Never had a problem making a claim. The agent is nice but most are. I would recommend them.

there is a new company out there. it's been around some , but not well known. it's actually out os puerto rico. they're fully accredited in the states and from what I hear (I recently looked for new insurance too) they are a good company and getting big quick. They were literally HUNDREDS less than any other company for the same coverage. I will have to check with my wife because I can't even remember the name now. I know it's spanish and I can hardly pronounce it. The customer service is good as well from what I hear. The other insurance companies I asked about them had nothing but good things to say. The problem is I don't know if they are currently writing in Florida. I was told many places have suspended writing new policies in Florida after last years busy hurricane season. I will pm the name and number if any one wants it.

If your miltary active duty or family of active duty or reserve  the best company for home insurance is USAA a lot of compaines are trying to pull out of the state of florida. other than that florida is a hot state now as far as insurance. its getting very hard to even get homeowners insurance now a days.

I'll second AAA.  I never even thought about them and have always had Allstate and my mortgage broker suggested AAA, and they were almost half the price Shocked.

I just bought a house and shopped around. I needed wind, hazard, & flood. I tried state farm, AAA, Nationwide and one other guy. The lowest price was Liberty Mutual by $300 per year. I delt with the largo branch.
Good luck

My parents also go through Larry Johnson in Brandon. They found us great coverage through a company called Mercury. They also insure our cars. Check them out!! Grin
