Croom was hot, lots of trails. The full 2400+ acres just for motorcycles and atvs. A little tip; GET A GPS!! Got lost twice and had to use my phones GPS to get back. How is Ocala compaired to Croom. Never been to Ocala and was planning a trip to either Ocala or back to Croom.

Ocala is much better than Croom. I like the pits at Croom for the technical riding. Ocala has trails that don't end. If you get away from the camp grounds there are very few whoops and pits as well. You absolutely have to use a GPS there!

if u got lost at croom, then u will definly get lost in the ocala forest, if u ever think your lost at croom, just pick a direction to go and keep goin til u run into a fence and it will bring u to a place that u willl know(campground or pit), so its not really easy to get lost at croom, but onf, there are no ways other than a gps to not get lost in onf unless u kno the area and trails very well

hey i know of a great place to park in ocala. Pm me if you want directions. I find that I like ocala more because I have a dirt bike but when I get a quad i'll go to croom again. But ocala rules either way.

Croom is a cool place to ride. But Ocala is much better. Longer trails that go forever. You'll definitly need a GPS for Ocala. Croom is a place that I can ride a few hours and be back by lunch. Ocala is a full day for me.

Ocala, hands down. ONF is 400,000 acres of awesome forest. Even when the trail system goes into effect, it is over 100 miles of trails. Come check it out!

Thats good to know. I will have the GPS by then, thinking about the Garmin 276c. Planning on going the last weekend of this month for an overnight stay with the family.
Who has waypoints of places of interest there for the gps?
Whats better big scrubb or delancy?

i think hunting season starts sometime in November but if you go to Big Scrub you should be fine the hunters know that scrub is ruled by the sport quads, lol, but hunters are only out early early in the morning, ive gone a few times during hunting season and never had any problems

Deer gun season starts Nov. 12. I suggest you go out of Eureka Dam area. Much nicer riding. I can meet you over there and ride with you if you like. You ride sport? I'm a 4x4 guy.

In Ocala you can ride faster and it's a bigger area all together, just more open from what I remember. Croom is for sure tighter, much harder to ride in, but alot more fun I think. Ocala isn't as hard as Croom to ride at. I'm talking about Big Scrub though, that's the only place I've been to there.
In Ocala, make absolute 100% positive that you don't ride on the roads, not on the side either, if it's meant for cars, stay away!

Big decision... I have a toter home that I can pull our small trailer and the problem is the length of about 55 feet. By the time we arrive on Friday night or Sat morning we might not find a spot to park overnight. For those who do not know a toter home is a semi with a motor coach box attached and is used to pull the big racing rigs. I get to use the toter home{Has all the comforts of home} and just hook up a small trailer for the atvs.

Hey kurt...
Saw your post and thought that maybe sometime if you are up to it....I could try and tag along?
I have just started into the quad riding. I have ridden street bikes for ages, but after riding a friends Vinson in upstate NY........I broke down and bought myself an ATV.
I rode it for the first time at Big Scrub yesterday (10/16/05). Big Scrub is about 50 miles from me (Ormond Beach) so I have yet to find the other riding areas in ONF.
I purchased a 2000 Yamaha grizzly w/1148 miles on it.....and it appears to have the original tires so I ordered a bigfoot kit. I have changed the oil and brake fluid.....have to find out how to check the belt! LOL
Anyhow, I am 48 years old and am carrying the ATV in a Ford F-150. I am open to ATV riding tips.
If for some reason you do not wish to reply to this....don't worry. I will not try to contact those who do not reply.
