Bombardier Outlander 800?

Has anybody taken one of these mudding?  I have heard some horror stories but those are from Kawasaki guys about the Outlander.  What I am looking to find out is how they handle deep soupy swampy mud.  Do they flood out real easy?  etc......

I think its great but all quads have some sort of problems!

We took one out to  Okechobee this past weekend...and let me tell you that thing is an awful lot of power , front wheelies and backward wheelies...absolutely insane....my buddy had it up to 70 on hardpack and could feel it getting a bit squirley....great bike....too many bells and whistles for me.....but the EFI has that thing jumping like a 2 wheel dirt bike ..no hesitation....not a beginner bike.....by no means....I like it but would not own one..I would wind up  hurt...lol.....THAT BIKE IS A MONSTER

The digital display on that thing monitors everything even says "hello JoeDirt" when you turn the key.......maybe it is more common but I got a kick out of it.....did I mention that Bike is a Beast?...LOL

belt box will get wet if ya tow it in the rain ?  How's that happen ?  I was just looking at some ads about outlander and didn't look too bad

I just bought one last week. I wen't riding this weekend and did about 40 miles and had no problems. I love the 3 year warranty it came with, and don't miss my brute force and it's tie rod woes at all. The bomb is definately faster and better handling. The fuel injection gives great throttle response. The motor on the thing is truly a monster. That thing can really wind up. I bought the camo xt model and it actuaullyis a 3d picture of a woods scene. Ihope it is as good as it appears to be. Wish me luck!!!!!!1

Split the difference and get the 06 650 Outy, if you don't think you need the 800.

i rode the bomb 400 last weekend in a open field and it was fast.  I barely got to ride it though but when i did i had a blast. thats juss my 2 cents

ive never riddin one, but i saw an 800. that thing had power up the a, i could see the rider, about 6feet, 190lbs, struggling to hold on, if its for mud only then i guess its good, not too safe for trails, no much dang power. that thing was poopin wheelies just givin it gas, mighty impressive.

Have been looking at the 400 MAX (now Can-Am) which is the 2 rider model. The salesman at the dealer was trying to tell me I need the 650 and that the 400 wouldn't have enough power for me and one of my kids on the back. I'm 185 lbs and none of my kids are over 50 lbs. I was all ready to pull the trigger on the 400 and am now confused by the salesman's comments. In a side conversation with the sales manager he told me he had been on one over the weekend with an adult on the back and said it had plenty of power. They would just fall behind a bit when all the single riders would take off down the flat strait trails. I'm also not exactly going to be hauling ass with one of my kids on the back. I've heard even the 400 has more power than any bike in it's class. They make a 400, 500, 650 and 800. Not sure why he was pushing me so hard on the 650 but I found it a big turn off for that dealership. Any comments on the 400 would be helpful.

The guys who do heavy mudding and stuff like that prefer more power. You may be fine with a 400 if you just want to check out the scenery. The salesman gets a bigger spiff if you buy the bigger one also.

i have a 650 i love it have had 0 probs wifh over 6 mounts rideing it and have ran thru water over fenders wifh no probs did have belt slip a little one time going thru deep water fast at river ranch seems ok in mud still have stock tires but still gos thru everything as good as every body else i have the 2 up model that thing is awesome on the hills good machine but be careful kind of got hurt this weekend at holyland thing is fast and you get caryed away but would recomend this bike

I have had the 800 for 10 months now and just hit a 1000 miles. I just put it in the shop for a full service and a couple of warranty issues, brake switch and speedo fogging. I have had 0 problems out of it. I mostly ride it out at the holeylands and it sees plenty of mud. The bike is great and I would get the 800, no sence not getting all the power you can get. It is very managable and I have the max xt also. The only downfall is it is heavy, 680 lbs. and when you get stuck, your stuck, so get the winch, worth every penny. I would not get the 400 just not enough motor for the max in my opinion. You want something that can turn the tires in thick mud especially when you upgrade to big mud tires. You will after you get stuck the first time lol. Anyways get the 800 you won't regret it.
