I know it's hard to find riding places but it's only making it worst for many that have to drive an hour or two to ride some where, with the the gas prices the way they are.I think that is a nother thing we need to complain about to the government, and not just the atv community but everyone. The thing I don't get is the cost of the barrel hasn't gone up.A bunch of BS if you ask me.

I had to drive all around Fort Lauderdale last Friday looking for gas. I asked one of the gas station owners what was going on and he said America is exporting more oil than importing right now. Our government continues to sell out our country. Is the US becoming the sleeper of the world? These Yahoo's in office better have a backup plan when the other countries come to collect instead of running and hiding, because they will be the first to go when we have a revolution.

The cost of the barrel has gone up very much. Adn the gov't is saying that their is a predicted increase to $108 a barrel by the end of the year. The only thing we can do is hit them where is really hurts.... Get a whole crap load of people to not pump gas on one perticular day. [smiley=Star.gif] But I don't think that will happen.  [smiley=Disapprove.gif]

i agree and disagree, muddygurl-the cost of a barrel has rose significantly lately, but to have a day when no one goes to fill up at the gas station would have no effect on the prices.  I might only fill up 1 out of 6-8 days now-it's not like everyone
fills up everyday!!  We are at the mercy of the oil/gas industry-all we can do is sit back and hope the price levels off
and at best, starts dropping back down one day.

Take it from someone going through an extremley boring economics class. You do not fill up everyday but there are plenty of people that fill up everyday. One day extremly effects as long as it is not broadcasted worldwide!

Not to argue with you, but if we do have a day where no one fills up-how do those people go to work-they'll eventually run out of vacation days-possibly lose their jobs.  Honestly, I wish
there would be something that we could do-but we do not have any control on the price of barrels and after that one day of not buying gas, people will have to go back to the pumps!!  gery was right, let's blame the sasquatch.

The solution is actually simple. You just stop driving needlessly. Buy more fuel efficent vehicles.

The problem is the gas guzzling vehicle sales are getting higher, which proves to the other countries and governments that we don't care what the gas price is.

You're exactly right , They know that you'll have to buy gas sooner than later so it won't matter to them if we all don't buy gas on a certain day.
One way that does make sence is for everyone to buy gas from one dealer i.e Shell or B.P or Sunoco.
If everyone buys from one dealer then the other dealers would have to lower their prices to get everyone to come there to buy. Maybe there's an underlying factor that I'm not aware of  but it seems like that would work better.

Well, lets see.  We definetly could use that line in Alaska...that would help QUITE a bit and the ecological damages would be minimal if the plan follows the way that its been proposed.

We need to stand up for ourselves and let some of these countries that we import from know whats going on.  These middle-eastern countries have NOTHING besides oil.  We (and other countries) ship them lumber, medical supplies, metals, fabrics and textiles, cars, and a TON of other supplies.  WE NEED TO START INCREASING PRICES on these exports until they get the f**k**g picture.  hehe Smiley

Lets not forget our troops fighting in IRAQ a country that unless I'm mistaken we get oil from. If I'm wrong let me know, but that's not right.

See the problem with that is:
   1. People have gas credit cards (And I know when I get low on cash I use the only card that I have which is Chevron)
   2. When you are in different places, sometimes it is hard to find just one kind of gas station.

I think it would be easier if we stop using one or two gas stations instead of just limiting to one, it would be slow to start but I think that if their is steady support from everyone, people will start getting the point!

The rising costs will actually keep people from driving needlessly, and in a way help ease traffic congestion  The worst part about it is that there are more gas drive-off's now (people ticked about how expensive it is and refusing to pay).  The drive-off's raise the price of gas even more.  But, the president and vice pres are getting rich, Im sure.

The government does not make much off of gas anymore. Well not as much as they used to because the barrel price is rising and if they rise gas over $2.50 a gallon, I know that I am going to start taking buses or trains to work. It is starting to become more expensive to ride a bus/train for 6 months than to fill your car up twice.

In Boca, and Wellington, they get $2.50 a gallon for diesal, 2.40 for low octane, 2.50 for medium, and 2.60 for premium.

Not sure what you mean by gas drive-off's. People stealing gas or people refusing to refuel? Alaska supplies oil to Japan and continues to do so. OPEC is nothing more than American oil companies leasing from the Suadi's for pennies on the dollar. Iraq oil is being sold to Europe and abroad. The oil companies love to spread propaganda and lies about how it's not them, it's the other guy. Reminds me of the President whenever he gets in trouble.

call me stupid but the bottom line is supply and demand. we will never know what the true supply is, but whether we buy from one place or another, dont pump gas one day, or buy smaller cars, our demand will be the same we still have to drive to work, school, etc. we will continue to consume and pay. we have no choice. unless you know of an alternative means of mass transit, the fuel companies rule the world.

And than you have to look at how that money is divided: the oil company, the ship workers that ship it over, customs that inspects it, truck drivers that deliver it, gas stations, stations employees......When you look at the big picture it is not that much!

How come no one mentions that we are the wealthiest nation in the world yet we have extremely low wages?  Or that our minimum wage hasn't gone up in ages?  Rather than pregnant dog about gas prices (which are going to go up no matter what), why not pregnant dog about WAGES not going up?

I mean, last year, steel prices TRIPLED and the only people hurt by it (directly) were people who used steel.  I built trailers for a living so when steel prices went up, I was paying a lot more for the trailers I was building.  We complained but no one supported us.

Now that gas is going up and its affecting people, everyone wants help.  Well, we need to focus on the BIG picture...

Prices rise.  Wages increase to accomodate price increases.  Thats the way an economy should go?
