Out of the box, I would say the SRT-10 is faster, but with minor tuning to the Lightning, I think it'll smoke the SRT-10.

7.3 Liters can do nothin.  6.0 Turbo Diesel will out pull your truck.

Watch out junior, You're messing with thing king of smack (not that this is smack) but where I'm going is, Smoke will make you shut your mouth and know your roll.

For the money, the Lightning is the winner. 5.4 engine, with a supercharger. Thats about equal to like a 6.3 V-8. The FACTORY HP numbers are  380 at the crank, 450rwtq

I dynoed my Lightning and it pulled 336rwhp 438rwtq

I have a 04, with 600 dollers, The SRT couldnt touch me. And If I had to pick one of the trucks, and it was either the 30k lightning vs the 50k SRT, but the limit was 50k, I would go with the lightning and invest in lots of aftermarket parts, 20k to be exact.

Also, the Lightning was the fastest truck for 8 years in a row. It took dodge 8 years to catch up and say.." Hey, why dont we take a hemi out of a truck and maybe a SRT-10 viper engine out and swap them, and then scrap the hemi because they suck anyways.. Well, hey! Thats an Idea, we will show ford that 20 grand will get you less than 10mpg and 160 more horsepower!!"

Well, only toping out at 155 MPH, the SRT seems to lacking were as the Lightning can claim a full 147mph electronically limited.

Also, if you like to show off your Viper inspired truck to your quad buddys, well.. one question, how will you put your quad in with that ridicuals wing on the back of the bed? Did I mention it isnt recomended for towing?

If anyone wants to defend the SRT, I can go on for hours.

But for the record, I will put down the SRT is faster out of the two off the dealer floor.

The SRT-10 is not a hands down faster truck stock for stock. The SRT's are a 6 speed that 98% of the owners can't launch to save their a55es. And if the SRT doesn't beat the Lightning out of the hole it will lose every time. The Lightning stock is  very easy to launch and being an automatic, you won't be missing shifts. Ask the SRT guys how fun it is to find 3rd on a speed shift. This is why virtually every SRT-Lightning encounter on the street/track ends with the Lightning  as victor. The SRT 10 is a nice truck, but not for the price. Not to mention the cost of anything to mod it.
I've ran 2 different SRT's with my old Lightning. It was a 2002 stock down to the filter lightning and I won both times by a considerable margin. I don't even bother with them now with my new Lightning as it's heavily modded and it'd be silly to waste the gas on a stock SRT-10. The chance of finding a heavily modded one to run on the street is slim to none. Most owners won't race around here anyways.

SRT's transmission ratios were'nt changed for the 8.3 engine thats why it ONLY tops out at 155. If dodge made an automatic SRT They would be owning lightnings and using there heads too like for changing the ratios. I think if they had the same tranny like auto or both manual the SRT would come out on top. You did make a point about that wing that definently should'nt be where it is, senseless mistake.......
