Today I upgraded the message forum to the latest version.

Some of the most notable changes from the previous version are:
  • A rewritten search engine to further optimize search performance, including separate subject caching.
  • Sorting and better pagination is now supported in unread/unreadreplies.
  • Increased usage of caching abilities of eAccelerator and similar packages for optimized speed.
  • A new [time]-tag, allowing to show a time that's dynamically adjusted to everyone's timezone.
  • Added support for previewing a post without reloading the page for Opera 8.01+.
  • The repair boards and topics function now uses steps to prevent timeouts.
  • Receiving 'report to moderator' notifications is now linked to a permission (moderate board).
  • Many, many bug fixes, tweaks, optimizations, improvements, etc.

Let me know if you find any bugs. Thanks!

Hmm..it looks like they are automatically thumbnailed. You have to click em to enlarge them. I don't know if that is better or not.

Dial-up users might appreciate that.

Karma is a feature that shows the popularity of a member. Members can 'applaud' or 'smite' other members, which is how their popularity is calculated. Min 250 posts to give Karma. You can only 'applaud' or 'smite' as many users as you want, but only one per user per 24 hours.

So, if someone posts very negative threads on a regular basis, they most likely will end up with a negative karma. Vice-versa, too.

No sorry. It's only a user wide server option. (As far as I know, this is a new upgrade to the forum).
