Thats because you took the us-41 way. From miami, take the alley to exit 112 or somthing, there is a cracker barrel on the exit. that will put you on CR 951 then go down 5 traffic lights, then turn on the 5th, that should put you on Golden Gate BLVD. Turn right and go alll the way down till you come to a 4 way stop, you will pass over 3 bridges, one pretty close to where you turn from 951 onto GG blvd and two more past a gas station called "E's" It used to be called G's but they sold out.

Once you come to the 4 way, make another right and follow the road till you get to the big bridge that goes over 75. Once you pass over the bridge, you are then in state park area I think. Anyways, badluck is all the way down that road, somwhere along , close to the parking lot is the turn off for the T canal.

The way i used to get in was LOOOONG it was take US-41 to US-29 go through a small town of Copeland, and then a LOOOONG drive through some unpaved roads and swamps. Is this the same way you all take? I dont know if i want to risk going out there though.

You went down Janes Scenic Drive.

Actually Janes Scenic Drive is alot faster than coming down Everglades Blvd North of I-75.  The fastest way is going off Miller's Rd on U.S. 41 but you need a lifted 4*4 truck to get around the water holes most of the time and there's lots of sugar sand to get stuck in.  I'm sure the locals know of other ways but those are the 3 ways I know of which is where FWC will catch you coming in.  It's not worth the risk to drive over there anymore.  Man do I miss the best place in Florida to ride.

I believe the last time I was in Everglades City I overheard one of the locals say that Janes S. was being blocked off so no one could go down it anymore.

Also why don't we just throw out a date and see what kind of response we get.  Plenty of people here belong to other internet sites with forums on them (floridaatv.com, the Florida jeepers, myspace) we can do some recruiting there and in here, not to mention everyone we know who isn't part of these sites.  I could get 10 dependable people and maybe another 20 on top of that to show up.  I can bring lots of food and cook if you think that will bring more people out.

Does anybody know the next time when they will have a meeting about the land?
I think it would be good if we'd plan it around that time.

Having a demonstration out in the everglades won't make anywhere near the amount of impact a demonstration in the middle of downtown Naples would make.

That's good point right there.  I'm not from that area, so I'm not sure where would be the best spot.  But right at the center of attention would be the best spot.  The news will pick up on a drop of rain, so I'm sure we'd get some publicity.  I think I'd be able to come if something go organized.  Instead of a group ride, it be a group protest, to maybe get back one of the best riding spots in South Florida.

We can lop over into the streets, medians, sidewalks....  I mean, we shouldn't do anything wild, but if a few hundred people make it out there, they aren't going to stop all of us.  I think if we've got ALOT of people, we can just plop anywhere, as long as streets aren't blocked, or we're in people's front yards.

Lets do this!!! Wanna get it right though! Is the goal here to reopen the squares? Also, I think stopping traffic without really realizing you are doing it (if you know what I mean) would make more of an impact. We need a date and a plan. What do you guys suggest???

A date... 2 or 3 months from now would work.  Time for some planning, yet it won't be unbearble summer weather.
OR!!.... We could plan it for dead middle of summer, to get the poing across that we'll do anything to show we need more riding areas.
As far as blocking streets, you can't forget about ambulances and firetrucks may happen to have an emergency the day we're out there, so at least 1 lane would be left open.  We'll have a barbque in the rest of them!  Tongue
And I don't know if the Squares will ever get open again, but it maybe it would light a fire under the government to open up some more riding areas like croom.

Haha, I'd love to ride on Naples beach.  However I don't like jail.  We need a big field next to a main road..........hmmmmm or we could take up half a parking lot at the mall.  Or maybe the big Publix lot on the corner of 41 and GG Pkwy.  Something needs to happen soon or I'm selling my atv and getting a street bike.

Yeah, there we go, that's a good idea.  If we have enough people, we can even spread out around the town and take up lots of parking spots.  I'm not from the area so I wouldn't know where to do it.

What about cambrier park?  We could line up on fifth and use up the whole park.  Only problem is those people won't get it I think it would be better near the government center.  They have the walmart right there and then the other area right across the way.

well it looks as if there is enough people to get this started. all we need is someone to spit out a date and place. im thinkin in a few weeks or a month, just to get the word spread properly. also, to get this right, we would be protesting to get our already promised 640 acres, right? do we know where these acres are? i'll announce out a date if no one else does. i have the whole keys and some miami behind me.

I think we should make a new thread in the Open Discusion titled Naples Protest or something, and really try and organize it.  We'd need at least a month I think.  1 month would be good.  It'd be good to make flyers and hit up all the forums and really spred the word.  Sometime in March or April, on a Saturday.

The Picayune state forest will eventually open up  again to ORV use.I have been in contact with Jim Colletta(Collier county commisioner) and with Mike Davis( State Representative)discussing what happening with this. Please understand the 640 acres are a seperate issue then the one for the squares.
As soon as the US fish and Wildlife service approve the ORV plan, there will be 12.7 miles of trails. A blue trail and an orange trail. The staging area will be of Everglades Blvd and 54th St. A maximum capacity of 84 riders at any given time(Unless they add more trails?). You must wear a helmet,20 mph speed limit, one way trails,$50.00 sticker/year.No double riding, Kids can ride as long as they are under direct supervision. You will have to take a course, wash the bikes before and after riding. THere are also 5 alternative sites being considered and one of them is badluck prairie. The phone # to Mike davis office is 239-417-6270

AS far as the 640 acres go, I agree that we should have some kind of demonstartion. THe SFWMD has been dragging their feet on this. They have proposed a "park" using the sludge they remove from  Lake Trafford in Imokkalee, the problem with this is they have found dangerous chemicals in that muck.

I will call the collier county government this week and find out what you need to hold a protest. The people responsible for the hold up are the SFWMD we need to protest in front of thier office...Rick

I don't think most people would like that.  We don't want to go riding at an amusement park, wait in line, get a hand stamp, be lead through boring trails at 20 mph... No no no.  We need wide open areas to do what we want.  And there is PLENTY of unused land in Florida.
