PLEASE WEAR YOUR HELMETS

MAN -O-MAN.I TOOK A FRIEND OUT FOR A SMALL RIDE DOWN IN KENDALL,WE GOT TO A SPOT TO RIDE & I ASKED HIM 2 "WEAR A HELMET " , HE SAID "NA-I DONT NEED ONE" SO I PUT MY HELMET ON & WENT RIDING.HE WAS ON MY SONS 90 & I WAS RIDING MY(BRAND NEW 05' YFZ450,2 MONTHS OLD)HE WANTED 2 RIDE MINE SO I LET HIM,5MIN LATER I SEEN HIM ROLLIN IT OVER CAUSIN HIM 2 HIT HIS HEAD & FACE ON THE GROUND & BIKE PEGS ! WHEN I SAW HIM HE HAD NO IDEA WHO I WAS OR WHAT HAPPENED & THE BLOOD WAS RUNNIN DOWN FROM THE TOP OF HIS HEAD IN THE SHAPE OF A " T " ! I WAS SCARED FOR HIS LIFE I THOUGHT HE WAS GONNA DIE @ THAT MOMENT ! IT LOOKED LIKE HIS SKULL WAS CRACKED OPEN & PUSHED IN,I SWARE I SAW BRAINS !
NOW I LIVE IN FT LAUD & HAD NO IDEA WHERE I WAS SO 911 WAS A JOKE,SO AFTER I CALMED HIM DOWN & MADE HIM SIT DOWN I GOT HIS CELL PHONE & CALLED HIS GIRL FRIEND,SHE KNEW WHERE WE WERE (THANK GOD !) HE COULD NOT EVEN REMEMBER HOW TO RIDE (HE HAS A STREET BIKE) SO I HA S TO TOW HIM APPROX 2-3 MILES TO THE ROAD & HE WAS AIR LIFTED TO JAX MEM HSPTL ! [smiley=Ouch.gif]
SO HERE IS MY ADVISE---
1) WEAR YOUR HELMETS
2)IF YOU RIDE KNOW WHERE YOU ARE @ ALL TIMES
3)HAVE A CARD WITH ALL YOUR INFO (NAME, ADDERSS, CONTACTS, BLOOD TYPE,PHONE NUMBERS ETC..) ON IT & PUT IT UNDER YOUR SEAT [smiley=lecture.gif]
DONT LET THIS HAPPEN 2 U !!!!!!!!!!! [smiley=Dead.gif]

I'll never understand.
Broken bones will heal, smashed skulls wont. Wear your helmets and by all means make your kids wear theirs. If you can afford an ATV you can afford an $80 helmet.

FTR used to have stickers like that. You would put them under the visor of you helmet, so it is with you at all times when you are riding.

I think that is a great idea about the information tag. I am going to find a way to keep something like that with my person, just for situtation should arise.
Hope the guy who is injured gets well soon.

When I use to ride my Harley, snowmobile, and ATV I had a sticker on my helmet that said "If unconsious do not remove helmet" That way if I was knocked out nobody would cause any more damage.

Chris, I imagine by now you've fixed your YFZ stalling. What was wrong? Carbs dirty? Mixture screws got turned in that spill?

Wow thank god your friend lived another day to tell his story. Imagine if he didn’t have you there to give him a hand. Good thinking on finding his cell phone I don’t think very many people would have thought of calling his girlfriend. Helmets are hot and stuffy but at least you know your being safe. Memorial day week end I went to the Holy lands and buried the ATV up to the fenders in mud. I hooked up to a pretty good size tree and ended up pulling it over on top of me, with the winch. Couldn’t run cause the mud was so thick just crouched over and felt safe knowing that I had the helmet on. It was hot as it could be but I am here to tell you this and just think I had the feeling keep the helmet on. By the way it was about 116-120 Degrees with humidity if anybody was wondering. Melted my company I.D. Badge in half.

I am definetly a fan of wearing a helmet.
On Easter sunday my friend was riding another friends street bike and wrecked really bad. He came around a corner going about 30-35 mph when the back end started to wobble and it is still unknown exactly what happened from there. He had a huge gash on his head because his head hit a reflector in the road. He has road rash over most of his body and he has about a 5-6 inch gash on his side that is still about an 1-2 inches deep. They thought he was going to die. When the owner of the bike arrived at the scene they were doing a fatality report. Some of you may or may not know him. He rides a Gas Gas 350, races at Dade City and works at a local polaris dealer in Spring hill. He was very lucky. I know that was on pavement and everything but you can get just as hurt on you atv.
