Hello,  I just got turned onto this site....  Do to economic times, had to sell my airboat and go back to 4 wheeling.

But, now I got problems with both of my ATV's.  1999 400 xplorer & 2006 500 H.O. efi.  Both have different problems.

2006 has an electrical issue, either in the stator or the ignition pick up. Or maybe the control module up by the radiator??  I went by the dealership and described them the problems I was having and what I have read on atv forums, and they said Everyone was wrong, but, I got an estimate for them to throw parts at it, for and extreme price.  (that didn’t happen)

1999- Had developed a very bad smoking problem (not Marlboro’s ,,haha)  I have had some work done to it recently on the "counter balance" side.  Some of the bearings and "o rings" replaced. (But, the guy has picked up a full time job and has no spare time now.)

After doing some research, I think I have discovered that the smoking can come from 3 places, either the head gasket (which I don’t have that problem) , or the 2-cycle oil injector is stuck wide open, or ( and probable the most oblivious ) the "O-ring" from the counter balance side is leaking oil in the motor.

I believe my problems are relativity simple in nature, but, I am not a trouble-shooter when it comes to this stuff.  I can break down an entire motor, as long as I have some guidance.  Guess after all that, I'm looking for a non-dealer Polaris mechanic.  Seem like where I live, none of these shops wants to work on Polaris’s.

I located in Lake County, but willing to drive a little ways,  anyone with experience please help, I’d rather pay you than the dealer.

Thanks,

As for the 99 get the block off kit for the oil injection and just run premix its better for it anyways those pumps are known for going out. Not sure if that helps but it will help you eliminate one problem
