Hasting 9-23 2012 xmr lost all oil

We had four bikes out at hastings today.  Plenty of mud and water.  My new outlaws did not let me down.  My buddy just bought a 2012 used 800 xmr and 15-20 minutes into our ride he hit his first mud hole, right behind me, and he pulled out halfway thru.  His tach said low oil.  I checked the stick and sure enough not a drop of oil.  He was trying to figure out how to get some oil when I told him he better figure out where the hell the oil went.  By then someone showed up with oil and went he put it in it drained straight out.  The oil plug was missing.  I know he did not ride long but it does not take long for things to go south running it dry.  He is supposed to find out who did the last service on it and for his sake I hope it was a dealer in case something got messed up.  But I don't know if they would fix anyway. Guess it depends on dealer.  Sucks when you spend 10k on a badazz bike and this happens.

Find those service records!!! That sucks bad. If he got it from a dealer they probly serviced it before putting it in the floor.

My buddy talked to dealer(south florida) over the phone and they said bike is fine.  Since he shut it down when low oil alert first came on.  I guess since the hot alert did not come on they think it is good.  Kind of sketchy to me.  He had zero oil at almost full throttle for a couple minutes.  I have had crank bearings go from low oil.  I hope they are right, but I guess if anything happens it is on them.  Not sure if he is going keep or not at this point.
