My wife and I went riding at croom a few days after Debbie went through. Must have had a lot of rain because the front pit was a lake and most of the trails into the mines were washed out.  Took some video as we rode a nice trail along the south and west side of Croom. Video was taken with GoPro 2 and the chest harness.

Only thing I don’t like is it shows to much of the front of the quad but it does give a different view when you ride through trees or through the trench..

I have never been to Croom, but I feel like I have now. It was almost like I was driving.  Smiley

I like the trench. I was going to ask if it was one way,but I see that you met somebody during your trip through. Who decides who backs up?

Good video! Larry

Thank You.. Glad you liked it.

There are no one way trails in Croom.  The other rider was my wife she was taking pictures of me coming back through. I have ridden through the trench many many times and i have never seen any one else in it at the same time.   I would think that if two riders met in the trench the smaller one would back up...  J/K  probably  the one closest  to the end would back up..

Nice vid, not sure how much I like the chest mount, I agree with you it does show too much of the ATV.  Can you adjust the angle of the camera?  I really want to go to Croom, that trench looked like it was pretty cool.

that's a cool video Merle!  I love my gopro.  I tried to chest mount but found it showed too much handlebar also.  I guess I should be standing anyway

Thanks Brian... Yeah love the GoPro but sorry I wasted the money on the chest harness. Maybe I’ll make it into a throat harness LOL  That’s about the only way I could get it high enough.. I have tried to use the handle bar mount but there is to much vibration. Video is to shaky.. Guess it’s back to the helmet mount.

Kinda sorry I bought the wireless backpack too.  I thought it would be like an extra battery  WRONG..

By the way if any one wants another battery for the gopro you can order them from gopro for 19.00.. best buy wants 39.00 for them

Thanks TJ..  Yeah i would love to ride with you and Steve again.. I have only been out 2 or 3 times since we last rode. Some one is going to have to do a lot of clearing out trees to be able to use some of the old trails into the mines..

Are there actual mines you can ride into and through?

It’s an old Phosphate mine.  There is one very large mine and 3 other small ones scattered around the park. Here is a video of TJ, Steve and i riding through the main mine.

Dually, I've been thinking about the chest mount because I'm 6'2 and ride a sport quad/stand a lot, so the helmet mount doesn't show any of the ATV. Now I'm not sure if I'd like it or not! Tell you what, come over and ride at 5A with us sometime and you can let me try it out  Grin As soon as I get my g/f her own bike again, I'd like to make it over to croom.

I have to think on that some.. But if you ride at Croom before then you can try it..  Quad is down not sure for how long.

Merle what happened to your wheels? Shocked

Well lets see.... it started out as a simple cv boot replacement. now I have a cv plunge joint stuck in the transmission and It looks like I need to buy a new axle. and get the plunge joint out of the transmission.

Manual says to remove axle from transmission “pull outward sharply to remove from transmission”  well I did that over and over and over... well next thing I knew the CV joint came apart and all the little balls including mine fell to the floor...  and that is the rest of the story..

Now I need to find a way to remove plunge joint. I don’t want to pry on it because the way my luck is going if I pry on it I will crack the case

Merle take a tie down strap and rap it round the joint.   Then use a  large ball peen hammer and hook it onto the other end of the tie down strap.  Then swing the hammer and the strap acts like a slap hammer.   Thats how I got my outlander axel out when it broke.

It’s finally out..  Tried several different ways including your way TJ it wouldn't budge. I ended up rigging up some thing to  remove it..  Found a heavy U-Bolt and a piece of heavy metal strap and i drilled two holes in it. Wedged a couple of bolts between the u-bolt and plunge joint and tightened it as much as I could. The I used a slide hammer and it still took 20 minutes of pounding to get the darn thing off.

Just goes to show that playing in the mud  makes every thing harder to fix..
