That you for your encouragement. When ever I start to feel as though No one really cares about the sacrifices my brothers and sister in arms have to make, along comes the vociferous few who remind me that I have made the correct choice. Through out my travels and experiences I have learned it is imperative to be well informed before you take a side. Not only must you know and understand the underline cause of a conflict, one must also believe in the principles for which it exists. I have chosen the side of liberty. Unfortunately that was not a well distributed belief through out this country’s history. Although very upsetting, it is a part of our past and must serve as a learning experience for today. It does no one any good to choose a side of a war that has long sense past. However, it is of the utmost importance to stand by the principles for which the war was fought. I have noticed that many of us who do not summit to the political correctness agenda are simply labeled bible thumpers or rednecks. I do take offense to these terms when I am labeled for presenting my conservative views. I take offense because thanks to the political correctness plague, these terms have become an insult. They have become a way for the liberals to label who they view as ignorant. Their view of ignorance is any one who does not subscribe to there damaging way of thinking. I am not sure if my point was made, so I at least hope that my words have initiated a different view and given you all something to think about.

I wish you were standing right in front of me right now cause i would shake your hand and pat you on the back. I completely agree this PC movement has gotten out of hand. These ppl go out and preach about political correctness and how name calling is bad but in the same breath talk about us "stupid rednecks." I dont know for sure but that seems a tad bit hypocritical. I went up north once, i repeat once, and those were the rudest ppl i have ever run across. If being from the south makes me an ignorant redneck, well by god i am. I am polite and help ppl out, if thats a bad thing, oh well.

LonesomeTriz i do appreciate everything the military provides for america and i'll thank you for your efforts as an individual. i love america and wouldn't trade it for any other country, it's where anyone can be anybody and that is a great thing. it's just not right to be any other way, i understand i am in the minority on this site and i'm fine with that. people need to mess with others lives less and live their life more.
i've appoligized for the redneck comment it was uncalled for, but if there wern't some truth to the stereo-type then there wouldn't be one.
i'll leave it at that.

Big B, you are more correct than I think you and others may realize or even want to realize. Have you ever heard of the saying where there is smoke there is fire? I have learned that with all stereotypes, there is a certain amount of undeniable truth. Look at the way the general public views any one with a truck, living in a trailer, and flying the Confederate battle flag. According the general public, that person is an ignorant, racist, uneducated person who can never amount to much. I have met plenty of people who drive trucks and live in trailer who are very intelligent. But you will never see them on the news describing the tornado or the flood waters. I come from blue collar hillbilly roots. Some may describe me as a redneck. I was raised in a way to where that would be an insult. Not because all rednecks are bad, but because a stigma has been attached to the term. I am neither racists nor ignorant. I fly the confederate battle flag as well as the other flags of the confederacy because I am proud of my heritage and my red Dixie blood. I also drive one hell of a truck and live in a trailer. The only people I have ever hated are the ones who are simply drains on society. (I.E. criminals, tree huggers, hippies, lazy good for nothings, ECT.) I may fit a portion of the stereotype, but I am far from what society believes me to be. You can thank this new wave of country singers who have no idea what real country life is al about. You can think the media for searching for the dumbest people they can find to talk about how their trailer has been flooded for the 18th time is a row. You can think these stupid movies such as that horrible remake of the Dukes of Hazard. If you are sick of the stereo type, then change it. I am.

OK I have to put my 2 cents in on Big B. I don't know if any of you have done your family tree but pretty much everyone has a lil part of every culture, we just grew and spread across the country. In Big B's arguement about the Indians, the Indians may have owned the land but do you realize that almost 50% of TRUE AMERICANS today have Indian in them?
Do you also know that all of the TRUE INDIAN tribes are still getting Compensated for their land. And I know this for a fact that if you have 25% of any of the TRUE Indian bloodlines (Mohican, Seminole, Cherokee... and so one) and you can prove it that OUR Government will pay you $1500 a month just b/c of your Indian Heritage. Gods honest truth I know a guy who recieves it now and you couldn't tell he had any Indian in him. Our Government has us so much against each other b/c they can say one thing but behind your back they are DOING something else. Look at our troops they are fighting a war to help the Iraqi's become free and to distroy the terrorists from coming again. And God Bless them for it but they don't know from one minute to the next what's going to happen to them and where they will be sent. Big B all I can say to you is I bet that you are one of these men who think that women should be suppressed and not be able to speak unless spoken to and should be obedient. lol you wouldn't last 5 min here....All I'm gonna say now is "God Bless America" and my kids WILL grow up to know what is right and wrong, what happened to our troops in the wars and that people died for them to be Free and to live on and that God will help them along the way.

Take the land from the Native Americans by force and give them tax breaks and land the government doesn't want. Now that's American Democracy.
What is your definition of a true American? I thought a true American was someone born here.

I have to side with TRX and Big B on this one. I am aware the government is doing what they feel is right be the Indians who had ancestors that suffered. However, entire cultures, civilizations, and a way of life was destroyed. No amount of compensation today will change what they went through then. I understand the point you are trying to make, but I think you missed your mark on this one.

You all realize that the Indian tribes were regularly at war with each other over land and when they took it they didn't compensate the losers, they killed them.
Do you honestly think this huge piece of land we live on would still be pristine, untouched wilderness if only the indians lived here? Asians or South Americans would have taken this land over if the Europeans didn't. If you feel so bad for the American Indians then donate some money to them and quit crying about history...it's done and can't be changed.

That is the point I tried to make earlier. It is a shame the way they were treated, but what is done is done. As I said before, consider it a learning experiance.

There were actually very few Indian Tribes that were violent towards others, but history as usual is distorted. Just look at Paul Revere's Ride. Paul was actually captured before his famous ride. William Dawes and Samuel Prescott with 40 other riders were the real heroes of the night, but when Longfellow wrote the poem he had trouble rhyming with Prescott's name.
To answer your question on whether we would have pristine land, the answer is Yes and No. Native Americans for the most part believe in giving back to the land and that is why I say Yes. On the other hand the Native Americans were not strong enough to defend this land. If we didn't take it then who? Probably people who cared a lot less about nature, though with our government's current stance on the environment we may not have pristine land for much longer.

Ya know I have to agree with what this person put in the Tampa paper. My ancestors were Cherokee Indian. My Great Grandmother was taken off of the Indian Reservation that she was living on. What's wrong with this picture. I'm sick and tired of those individuals coming into our country and complaining about every little thing that Americans do. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT HERE, FIND THE NEAREST EXIT, AND DO SO! Just once I would like to go into a store and not have the person waiting on me speak to me in Spanish. I don't even look Spanish.
And as someone else questioned, What about my rights. I guess that was thrown out the window.
