I was watching the news at Noon and saw a story about a 23 year old who STOLE a Banshee  at 3:00 AM, drove down the main street and crashed head on into an SUV. The thief was killed and a passanger on the back was injured.
How many things are wrong in this scene?

The crying mother on TV said her boy was a good kid and always rode ATV's on the street . It's a terrible tragedy, but I find it difficult to feel  bad under the circumstances.

The story and video are at:

UPDATE.. After reading the WSVN story, they did not mention that the ATV was stolen. If you watch the TV news cast, they have a segment showing a man who explains how his banshee was stolen from his garage. It shows a HUGE industrial Chain that was "CUT". Now his ATV is ruined... the thiefs family will probably sue the owner and say" you did not secure it enough"... Try and catch the video on Channle 7 WSVN tonight

I agree with you! ...but the REAL point is that the ATV had NO business being on any type of street, especially at 3:00AM, with no lights, no helmet, with a passenger!
An SUV sits high and the ATV is low, how could the driver see the quad?

I say he got what he deserved,,,,,obviously death is a bit harsh for stealing a quad, but if your'e gonna steal a quad,,,,,take what you get.

I'm not sorry for the bum.

No lights, 3:30 AM, on the street, and I belive some one said that it was stolen. I hope this does not seem heartless but OH WELL he will not be stealing another bike. Sorry for his family, but sounds like he has been riding on the street often and Mom knew that he was. Did she not tell him not to ride on street?

The SUV owner will get sued by some chaser and the Mother will probley win.

I agree with Ida, "YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW" Take out all the negative factors in that situation and that kid would still be alive & the owner would still have his quad. We run a risk every time we fire up the engine. Add in all those factors and people would be getting hurt/dieing left and right. Frankly, unless you are doing some hard core trail riding or hunting in the forest, no one should be on a quad at 3:00am. Where are the trails/forest in Miami.

...HE DID NOT STEAL THAT QUAD ! ....

I will agree, it has not been investigated enough to know if it was the atv that was stolen the same night. Even if it was his OWN ATV, the whole accident should not have happened. Does anyone live near "Southwest 153rd street and 101st Ave" or have any updated info?

Its like the story of the mother who had a son who was a bank robber. The son got arrested because he robbed a bank at 3:30 in the afternoon… The mothers reply was “why was  the bank open at 3:30? There was no reason for a bank to be open at 3:30, who does banking at 3:30 in the afternoon.? If the bank would have been closed he wouldn’t have robbed it."

Just saw the report said he jumped on the bike that didn’t belong to him, and didn’t have any business being on it is what the media said. Media said everything but  calling it stolen. Then the sister of the deceased says  “wel dem drivers should have known he was on it because he neva drive a ca and he always on dem 4 wheelas  it was da drivers fault. He alays ridin them 4 wheelas on da street” Oh and the chain that they showed that was cut was of a super heavy duty variety. I have seen them use chain like that when they do super heavy crane lifts. The diameter of the chain was at least 3/4 thick. With large ovals/links. I got  rethink my theft deterrent strategies now.

R.I.H.  ATV thief, you got what you deserved. I say we give the SUV driver a reward because there vehicle was pretty much totaled. It was a late model Isuzu Trooper, It pretty much looked like it hit a wall. I am shocked by the media… The guy was on a bike that didn’t belong to him and cut a ¾ inch thick chain to get it? What’s the definition of stealing again?

sad to hear another life is lost on an atv. another black eye for the locals, because the only thing the media and  quad haters are going to keep repeating is 'kid was killed on an atv'.
