What a great weekend. Pretty fair attendance, not enough people to retire from...but can pay some bills
No real disasters, plenty of people having fun, nobody hurt too badly, not too many acting like fools and I only got grumpy and shouted at people twice (which is somewhat of a record for me).
People were trickling in all day Friday, we spent most of the day fixing stuff (what's different there
) started with a bad track on the dozer, causing some fast urgent attention to the skid steer...thanks to all those that helped getting that running cool again. The water truck was brought back into commission..thanks to Downtown FUB for the cool new feature (air operated sprayer head)...it worked awesome. Just ask Jeckles
Track was in great condition for Saturdays race...we had about 50 quads and a few dirtbikes enter, and it led to some awesome racing...both for the fans and the racers alike.
MX Race Results Are Here:
http://www.atvflorida.com/forum/index.php/topic,42840.0.htmlWe delayed sign up for a little (more on this later) and this led to the rest of the day being back to back, late and very busy. The barrel race was done in front of the mx track tower and was awesome. We had 25 entries in the barrel race ~ results were:
Kids:
1: Alan Register
2: Parker Merrill
3: Josh Watson
Adult:
1: Chillin
2: Downtown FUB
3: Jason Watson
The next event was the parent/kid water race, we had 22 teams (44 people) participate in this. The results are:
1: Landen Caccamis
2: Josh Watson
3: Matthew (LIttle Chillin) Watson
Next was straight on to the drag racing, we had 38 people competing. Results are as follows:

Kids 250cc:
1: Alan Register

The scavenger hunt was won by Stephanie George. The kids costumes were awesome, they were all winners, but we had to pick 3..the winners were:
1: Indian Girl
2: Werewolf
3: Clark "Superman" Kent.
On Sunday we had yet another late start (
) for the XC race. Turned out to be a great race though, we started sign up with only 3 entries, but by holding on for a few extra minutes, we ended up with 24 racers. The youth class never finished as one of the racers had an accident and the others stayed with them until the medic arrived...so props to them. The peewees and adults results are:
Peewees:
1: Chris Eckles
2: Josh Watson
3: Ryder Ondish
1: Chillin
2: John "Da Bomb" Plankey
3: Travis "step up" Brown.
The relay race fell apart down to our suckness and our teams lack of any coercion.
Thanks to all the helpers, thanks to everyone that came out...I hope you enjoyed it.
On a side note: I heard the usual grumblings about the times we start the events. Quite frankly it is getting a little old. We try and give everyone a good time and make sure the majority of people get a chance to compete in as much as possible. Sometimes circumstances mean the events don't go off exactly the time we hoped. Normally the only people this really inconveniences is Bill, Matt and myself, while we don't expect a medal, you have to remember that we started watering the track Saturday at 6 am & because of a few delays (none of which were caused by us) none of us took a break until around 8.30 pm. I don't care that we didn't get to eat lunch or sit down for a minute, but quite frankly we can do without all the snide comments. Take for example the XC race, at the allotted time there was 3 racers, by holding out for a few minutes we got the number up to around 24. Please bear in mind that we are trying to give as many people as good of a time as possible.
The other thing is if you have an opinion about the way an event is being run, we don't mind discussing it calmly AFTER the events are over...we welcome suggestions, but quite honestly arguing at the start/middle of an event is not the right time. We do things that we think best protect us/you but still offer the fairest and most fun time.
Rant over....hope you had a great time, the dry trails were dry, the wet swamp trails were wet and I know lots of people enjoyed themselves. I know we did.
