Hello everyone,

I have had a few previous accounts here at ATVFlorida, and this is the first time I've been around for a while now.

Does anyone have any information on the Holey Lands, if it is re-opening anytime soon? Most likely not, that one "group" always has to ruin it for the rest.

Cheers,

It's closed to ATV's and will likely remain that way forever.

Buy a UTV, buggy or other steet legal 4x4 and you can help get our other toys banned out there, too! All they have to do to properly manage an area like Holeylands, for all to enjoy. Install some plastic trail markers, sell limited # of permits to defray the costs of enforcement of the rules and close the area for 2 months during the wet season or rotate to Everglades 3A, every other year.
BTW, I heard a rumor that, beginning July 1, Corbett street-legal 4x4s(Jeep, Zooks, etc.) must operate only on Tomato Field Grade and will not be allowed on the trails. FWC has not posted the 2010-2011 rules/reg, yet, on their website. I do see the following statement on the Corbett website, "Corbett is one of the only public areas for people along the highly populated Gold Coast to hunt. As a result, hunting pressure is very high: 10,000 mandays of hunting results in an average take of 94 deer and 153 hogs. Approximately six hundred acres of old tomato fields are managed with a comprehensive food plot and mowing program to improve wildlife forage. Consequently, the turkey harvest has doubled. This area can be accessed with a 2-wheel drive vehicle less than a mile down Tomato Field Grade. About 85 percent of Corbett is open to dog hunting and swamp buggies".
So, there you have it. If hunters and buggy operators won't allow ATVers to responsibly share these areas, we have no choice, but, to buy/build more buggies!
