Does anyone know a florida dealer that makes deals on these warrantys? They are on ebay for $409 or so but it says in florida you can only buy from an instate dealer and i was quoted $800 when i bought the quads 5 months ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're referring to a Yamaha Extended Service(YES) contract, then only Yamaha sells them. But, I believe Yamaha dealers also sell them on fleebay. However, the fleebay warranty may be what's called an "aftermarket" warranty. The difference is that Yamaha dealers may or may work with your aftermarket warranty company. The aftermarketeers will most-certainly and aggressively challenge your claims for compliance with OEM service requirements. They'll more-often void a claim by telling you your mechanical malfunction was caused by misuse. They don't make money from sales of ATV and don't make money by paying claims. They'll cover the small stuff and hose you on major repairs. They are the judge, not you.

Being that these quads have the eps and i have heard of some problems with that system i would like the 4 extra years piece of mind.

I hear ya. ATV sales are down as prices skyrocket with the new technology(EPS, EFI) and the economy's in the tank. Most folks who don't buy warranties are those who'd bought older technology ATVs, which are easier to self-repair and/or they're ATV racers/mechanics. Warranty naysayers operate only from behind the internet keyboard when you need ATV repairs! My River Ranch partner owns and operates an authorized Can-Am dealership in Dania and I still get the warranties. Repairing my Outy out of the goodness of his heart don't get his bills paid! And, the YES warranty paid for replacement of rear axle bearings, head gasket, starter and what-not on my son's 05 Raptor. We sold it, while still under warranty, to a buyer who had at least 12 months of some confidence that he wouldn't immediately be hit with major repairs. The $100/hr labor costs that can kill you, too, if you can't do it yourself. If you never need repairs, you only ride your ATV to and fro church on Sundays. That being said, any warranty can and will deny your claim if there's any doubt the mechanical breakdown was caused by misuse(e.g. submerging in water or lack of maintenance records). Honda just refused a warranty rebuild of my buddy's 2005 Rancher crank, claiming water intrusion caused the failure. In your case, you could put aside the $800 for each of your ATVs and have $1,600 for future repairs. It's clear as mud, whether to buy the warranty or not.

Aintskeered, I'd want a warranty too with the canned hams Grin.
Those Yamahas wont give him any trouble unless he mudds them to death and sinks them in which case they probably would deny warranty anyway. That would really suck to pay for the warranty and then still have to pay for the repairs.

I might would have to agree with you on this in most cases.
However... there are "aftermarket" companies that provide Extended Service Contracts through a dealer that
are extremely efficient in taking care of claims and the customer. More so nowadays than ever. In fact,
I have found that most Manufacture Extended Service Contracts have scrutinized claims more heavily than most of the reputable Aftermarket companies.
The key is to deal with a "reputable" company that only sells Service Contracts through a dealer.
The dealer partners with these companies because alot of times it is more beneficial to the customer to have their coverage.  On top of that, if the aftermarket companies do not honor the coverage or gives customers a hard time, the dealer would stop using that company. Its in the best interest of the warranty company to take care of claims and customers.  Remember these "warranties" are good at any ASE Certified repair facility. Which means, if your in a town riding for the weekend that does not have a Yamaha dealer, you could take it to a Honda dealer to have it repaired using the "aftermarket" companies service contract. (We all know that a Honda service department is never busy!! So they will definately have time to fix it!)

Bahamas- Extended Service Contracts are considered Insurance in Florida. Because Florida is an Insurance regulated state, dealers cannot raise the cost 1 cent above or below the posted retail rate from the Extended Service Contract company. Some companies are less and some are more based on their different levels of coverage and terms. Unfortunately, the price is the price.

Also, the reason that I call them Extended Service Contracts instead of "Extended Warranties" is because of the Magnuson Moss Act in our state legislature. This act states that a Warranty is implied and given with a purchase of said goods. If you pay for it then it is classified as an Extended Service Contract.

With all this being said.  PM me and I will take care of you.  There is absolutely noone on this site or possibly in the ATV riding community that knows more about this particular subject. I can guide you towards coverage with options that may make it much much more affordable for you!!

The key is to get the extended service contract from a reputable dealer having competent mechanics who can effectively represent their customers in any claim against the extended service contract company(OEM or aftermarket). Ask your dealer which contract he prefers(OEM or aftermarket). If you buy an aftermarket contract and the claim is denied, you're mad at the aftermarket company and pay the dealer for the repairs out of your pocket. If a dealer sells you an brand name(OEM) contract and you're denied a claim, you won't return to that dealer or that brand of ATV. You'll have someone else repair it or sell it and you'll get another brand. The vast majority of people seeking service will seek service from a local dealer they trust because repairs usually take more than one week and who can wait that long away from home? Aftermarketers will do business honoring their contracts with any ATV repair shop possessing a business license. But, if it's not the shop you bought it from, they will examine the claim more closely for possible misuse and/or demand you provide proof you've followed the OEM service intervals. Most ATV dealers cannot make a living by selling only one brand of ATV and, therefore, they sell and honor OEM extended service contracts for each of the multiple brands they sell. So, if you're traveling and need service, you'll likely find it, especially in bigger cities. There are dealers who won't do business with the aftermarketers and there are others who will do business with them but will encourage you to buy OEM contracts. But, I haven't heard of any brand name dealer fail to honor a brand name extended service contract, unless they do not sell that particular brand. In SFL, Rick Case Honda is one of the few who only sell Hondas because he also sells Honda cars, Honda PWCs and Honda motorcycles.   P.S. I'm no expert on that market, but, the only time I've been denied a claim was by an aftermarket company. The counterbalancer grenaded on one of my PWCs and blew a hole in the crankcase. Aftermarketer denied the claim saying I should have heard the impending doom and shut off my PWC before it actually grenaded. Can you imagine coming into a repair shop and saying, "it sounds like something's wrong". The next thing you'd hear is, "it's not a covered repair because it ain't broke yet'. Experienced mechanics and racers might know the sound of impending crank failure, but, not most recreational riders. After much debate and weeks of dispute, they paid only for a new crankcase and none of the labor nor other required parts. That being said, Rick Case Honda just denied my buddy a similar OEM claim on his Rancher, claiming "evidence of misuse" possibly from running low on oil or diluting the oil with water intrusion. They may or may not be correct.

Your right. Reputable Company from a Reputable Dealer. I can guarantee you that if you have the right Aftermarket company there will be no refusal by that dealer of coverage. The truly good Aftermarket companies pay Retail Customer Labor Rate, Retail Parts, and full Labor Time. This is much more lucrative for the dealer as opposed to Factory Labor Rate, Factory Parts Reimbursement, and Factory Time. You cannot go wrong with factory coverage. But if you have a really good Aftermarket company (which there are only 2 or 3 out there, then there is truly no comparison.
Nice discussion.
