So I have a 06 Brute Force V-Twin (carbureted) and I've run out of ideas for my bogging out issue.

I made the mistake of running old gas through the motor and now I'm dealing with a hesitation issue. I took the carbs apart (5 times) and cleaned the jets/carbs out. I even took it to Kawasaki and had them dip the carbs and cleaned out each jet with a special tool.

I siphoned out the old fuel, added a mix of new fuel (mid grade) along with Sea Foam fuel additive. I even poured Sea Foam into the carbs directly as directed on the bottle. I even installed an in-line fuel filter just in case there was some additional sediment left in the tank. I changed and gaped the spark plugs. I've since siphoned out the fuel with the Sea Foam mix and put in some new mid-grade fuel.
It's running now but when I throttle it all the way I get a really bad hesitation/bogging out response. I can't think of any other causes. It seems to be a fuel delivery issue. If anyone has suggestion, please let me know. Thanks!

I am not too familar with a brute force, but I have heard of cases of the "fuel switch" (on,off, rev) going bad.  It might be something to look at.  Dunno

I have an 05 650 V2. Since you have already cleaned the carbs, make sure the air filter and intake area is clean. Mine has a fuel pump so make sure it is working properly. I have had bad luck with SeaFoam on anything other than automotive.
Good luck.

Is this a 650 or 750? I don't recall a on/off/reserve on the 750, it very welll may be on the 650, I'm not sure...I have 3 brutes in the garage now and they are all 750's, none have fuel shutoff...two 08 and one 07

Is the bike snorkeled? When did it run properly last? How long did it sit for? Have you checked the carb vent lines? Been through any water lately? Did you drain the bowls? Have you replaced the jets? Check your choke cable, sometimes it gets stuck when re-assembling the carbs.  Air filter clean/properly oiled?

I can help a lot, I work on brutes constantly...PM me and we can talk about it.  I can guide you through the process and I've been there before...I just fixed a brute that sat for 2 years...I had to replace the jets and it still had a hesitation.  If all else fails just buy used carbs off of highlifter or ebay...

how many tanks has it been since you ran the old gas through it? it sounds like a lean condition, water in the gas would create a lean condition. siphoning the gas out of the tank isnt good enough if there's water in the fuel. take the tank off and turn it upside down and completely drain it. this seems to be a common problem lately lol. i feel like im repeating myself.

If I'm not mistaken (per the manual), the fuel shut off is directly under the computer, under the seat. You'd have to remove it to see it.

Anyhow, It was sitting for about 6 months and my DUMBASS thought it would be a great idea to get a new battery and run it without siphoning the old fuel! Not so much!

BTW- The bike is STOCK. No snorkel... Yes I drained the bowls, I did not replace the jets, all cables are good and filter is clean and oiled.

Anyway- here is the current:

I've since taken the carbs over to Kawi (after removing and cleaning them 5 times on my own) and had them dipped and clean the jets with their jet cleaning tool.. I am still getting a little hesitation when I get on it hard but it seems to be getting much better ever since I replaced the Sea Foam mixed fuel with fresh fuel. I'm just going to keep running it with fresh fuel and see if it clears up.

I appreciate eveyone's help with this issue!

Now- on to the next one: I have a wabbeling wheel! I'm thinking it's a baring since the boots seem to be in good shape... Any suggestions?

jrpro130- I'm defiantly going to take you up on your offer. I'll PM you. Thanks man! jrpro130, is $4,000 a reasonable offer on this bike? It has 567 miles and 115hrs.

you probably are just running the water out of the gas as you continue to mess with carbs, drain the fuel, ect.

jrpro130 Yeah, I think I'm going to!

Chevy, I'm probably just going to keep running fresh fuel through it. I can't even think about taking the carbs appart again!

no, i was suggesting removing the gas tank, not the bowl on the carb. if there was fuel with water in it, and all you did was siphon it out, the little bit left behind is enough to contaminate the new gas. the only way to really solve the problem is to remove the gas tank from the bike and turn it upside down, blow it out with compressed air, ect. or the long way is to drain it a million times, run multiple tanks through, ect until the water works its way out. sounds like you have got it under control now, just keep riding it and eventually the gas will be good and the bike will run good.

Chevy- That's what I was trying to avoid. The last thing I want to do now is to remove the tank but I guess I will if I have to. Thanks for the info.

I have never had to remove the tank, although it is pretty easy.

For water in fuel all I do is siphon out all the gas possible, fill with rubbing alcohol, siphon that out and let it evaporate.  If there is anything left in there is is a drop of gas! The siphon I use is just a bulb with a tube, I put a big nut on one end so it goes straight to the lowest point on the tank.

After that you can drain the carbs and fill her up and pray for the best.

Sounds more like an OLD FUEL issue than water in the carbs...but I wouldn't know until I heard it run.  Water in the carbs is different than gummed up jets.  Water tends to effect lower RPM and gum tends to effect higher (makes it leaner)
