I admit there is alot of pissing and moaning, and it is from the frustration of just wanting to race. Like I said before we can not control the weather. Just like everyone else, the bottom line is we want to race. I don't mean to bring any other quad riders into my comments, that is not my intention. I represent myself and the people who arrive with me at the track and no one else. But we are all flat track racers and should not be put into groups or talked down too.

"you quad guys are completely clueless about racing Flat Track"

"I will convert that for you so it is easier to understand"

Sorry I was slow to understand the post the first time, I was thinking about what time I had to catch the short bus on Monday. My bad!

Shawn, you do not know me, and I do not know you. So I think it is safe to say we both need to watch what we say and how we say it.  I will do everything within my power to help this sport grow. The pissing and moaning is going to happen, its only natural considering our start to the season. I can only imagine what Ward was feeling when he had to send out that email. You guys are trying to give us a race season and mother nature is not allowing it. We all understand. The complaining is not personal, but your comments could be taken that way.  "The comments you have posted today are uncalled for and quite immature to say the least"   If thats the way you see it, so be it. Just poking fun at a bad situation.

To all the Flat Track and TT racers out there and SDTA,
I will do my best to cut down on the negativity that we have been experiencing lately. It is completely from the same frustration that we all are having. I do look forward to racing with all of you and can not wait for the feeling of being back out on the track. Its just got to wait until Feb. 20th.

                                  Sincerely,
                                         Scott Gulley #421

P.S   I'm very used to racing on clay. Drive

Good Morning My Friends......and I hope & think that is true
Sitting here early this morning looking at "our" and "our" means everyone's....message board. I sit thinking how did we get to this place with the sharp words being said. A misunderstanding here, frustration there, something said in fun or a joke but not taken that way, words meant to insult and words of retaliation to same. Not a fun or enjoyable place to be. I would like to challenge all of us including myself and ask ourselves if we couldn t have chosen our words a little better. I am of the opinion that all of us could have. E mails & message boards all get misinterpreted in the beginning and then escalate to something else........ I commend Scott and would like to include myself with him in his pledge to get our energy directed back in the right direction. Please remember, when you see my e mails and message boards notices, I am trying to get the best information I/we know...... to you. Sometimes we (SDTA) are the ones that make the decisions........sometimes we are only the messenger........and sometimes..... we may get it wrong. It is a not our intent.

Our intent is our mission statement
MISSION STATEMENT:
Our goal is to provide a safe, consistent and exciting race environment that the fans, racers and their families will enjoy and be proud to be a part of.

THANK YOU
and
ENJOY THE RACING!!

Sincerely
Ward Jones

You quad guys=Cosmo & Gulley
I/we= Shawn, Ray & Ward

Do I take these comments & complaining personal? Yes I/we do as it is no one else but I/we that is doing the work to make these races happen. You guys have no idea how muck work it takes to organize, promote & schedule these races that are for you!!

When you get on here and complain & piss & moan it does nothing more than blow the wind out of our sails, we call each other and ask "why do we do this again" it would be refreshing for some of you to actually appreciate what we have accomplished in short period of time and what we have planned for the coming yr but that does not happen.

Here is a perfect example of what I mean, I spent 5hrs yesterday and my own $$ buying the supplies needed to build the track drag so T-Bowl will at least stand a chance to have a good racing surface the next time we race there which is only 20days from now. The implement is not a Engineering marvel nor did it take an enormous amount of time or $$ but none of you even took the time to post under the pictures & header to thank me or the SDTA for spending time to make the track that YOU race on better, but you have plenty of time to again question our decision to call the race.

Flat Track racing is very sensitive to weather/rain which means we have to make decisions based on the information we have available at the time. We the SDTA & track owner made the call at 8:31 yesterday to NOT race, this may happen again in the future or we could risk it and spend $$ to drive several hrs away and sit there and stare at a wet race track and each other "which may be a good idea at this point as maybe we could be more productive as a group of Men having a respectful discussion". We would prefer to reschedule the race for another date and hope that the weather turns out better for that new date

I actually prefer to have the quads race with us as they make the racing surface better for the bikes but the turn out lately & the aggravation on this forum I'm beginning to question if it's really worth it. I hope you guys can prove me wrong in the future as you have made the declaration in the last few posts.

So I ask you again "Are you with us or against us"?

Submitted with the utmost of respect
Shawn

In my opinion, if you're going to ask people to buy into the Association's series to be able to compete for the championship and for trophy's at each event, then I think everyone that joins should be able to voice an opinion. If you want the kind of feedback yuou are looking for, Shawn, why not set up a formal meeting for the people that have joined the Association, to bounce ideas and possibly make a series that is for all competitors and fans alike. I, like you donated my time and knowledge to make SDTA have a look of professionalism. This whining from everyone is the most classless and tasteless aspect of all the posters here.

I believe that to make this better would be to have a meeting in a central location on a Saturday that everyone may be able to attend. Orlando? Ocala on a Sunday with a practice scheduled?

Being an organizer and promoter can be and is a thankless job at times. But, to do it right takes being like a duck; you let the criticism roll off you like water off a duck's back. Not an easy propisition but something everyone has to learn, none the less.

Those of us that have been racing for any length of time know how weather oriented some forms are. Flat-track particularly. Quads may be able to go out and do it on a soggy track, whereas those of us that want more of a challenge by riding a motorcycle, have a tougher time riding in the soup.

End of rant.

That is uncalled for, as everyone knows that even in the best of conditions, quads turn the fastest lap times. We are also much heavier and it takes alot of strength to muscle something 100 lbs. heavier, going faster.

There is no need to put us down, there have been many good quad fanatics who have contributed to racing for all (Brady Windsor, Dave Ware) to be exact.

We raced for years without any motorcycles, and the scene was strong when the economy was good. So to say something like that really does offend us all (Quad guys) unnecessarily so.

On a good note, I am glad there are still people who are dedicated to organizing events and are willing to put forth the effort (alot of it) to keep this going.

Scott, that may have been a poor choice of words. It was not meant to offend any quad riders. My point is/was that with 2 extra wheels you quad guys have an advantage over the motorcycles. Riding in the soup quick can be a hair raising ride, as I'm sure most of the motorcycle contingent will agree. I did not try to put down any one person or group of people for what they ride or not ride.
And I have ridden from 2 to 4 wheels and think that 3 wheels is tougher than than any of the others.
