This is a pic of my buddy from NY at Walden Motocross 2 weeks ago in upstate NY. He used to have an ATC200M back in 1984 that we used to ride up in Mass. He's pushing 40 also and still rides like a maniac.

The only problem with turning 40 is that your eyes go bad and then your knees follow suit.  It kills me I can't take hard riding anymore.  It's gotten to the point that a weekend walking around at Disney has me begging for mercy.   Cry  Gettin' old sucks.

Sooner or later, age takes it's toll and lets us all down.  Trust me, the first thing that goes is your eyes.  It happens to nearly everyone; you turn forty and it's like somebody flipped a switch.  All of a sudden you can't see crap anymore.  Then the knees and/or shoulders.  Depends on how much abuse they've had.

Funny you talk about vision. about 5 months ago i woke up and saw a spot out of my left eye. i thought it was from a welding flash but it was a retinal vein occlusion. i could barely see from blood blocking my vision. well the doctors had a field day with me. they made me take 16 blood tests and swore they would find something wrong. they found nothing except slight high blood pressure. they had me so worried that i started dieting and excercising like a madman. i ended up going from 221lbs down to 181lbs where i'm at now. as for my eye it healed on its own without treatment and is almost back to 100%. i'm 37 but i'm with anoriginal on this. i dropped 40 lbs and i feel great. it's all in your head. i've had my left leg broken 3 times, right leg fractured, acl torn, pec muscle completely torn off and reattached but training hard has pulled me through.

It's not that I'm that much older than you and I'm still in very good shape (6'1" 190 lbs), however, when I was your age I felt the same way.  I swore I would never end up one of those guys with the paunch belly, hobbling around bitching about some pain somewhere.  Don't have the belly but the knees give me fits.  I've been pretty hard on my body over the years, especially the knees (MX and enduro, quads, competitive slalom skiing, going off ramps on a hydroslide, street bikes, snow skiing and all the wrecks that goes along with all those activities, not to mention a couple hundred or so hours of being in the catcher position while coaching my Little League pitchers).  You will soon learn it's true; you won't be young forever and it won't be all in your head.   Wink

I must be one of the oldest riders on this site at 58 but I'm still in excellent physical condition and plan to run my 5th marathon in Jan.  The eyes started going first and caused me some grief during flight physicals (retired military aviator).  When my knees started bothering me I started taking Glucosimine-Condrotin (over the counter drug) which made a huge difference.  Getting old sucks but you can slow down the process.  A healthy, active lifestyle helps.

I used to own a beautiful airplane.  It was a 1980 182RG and we went to Sun-N-Fun every chance we got.  I really miss those days.  I truly believe I missed my calling because throughout my entire life I've never been able to let a plane fly over my head without stopping whatever it is I'm doing to look up and see what it is.  Unfortunately, I've developed some issues in my life and can no longer fly.  It kills me but I did live the dream for a little while.   Grin

Here's a pic of my plane.  This was taken by the guy I bought it from.  I look back on it now and it never ceases to amaze me that I never took pictures of just the plane while I owned it.  There was always pictures of people standing next to it or from inside the plane looking out but never a picture sitting on the ramp of one of the many places we flew to.  Oh well.

very cool. it reminds me of their old plane they had when we were kids. it would take us three and a half hours to drive up to pittsfield mass from long island, ny. but when we flew up in their plane it would take us 45 minutes. ahhh to be young and debt free and not a worry in the world again!!!!
