All I received a call today from  Kevin Asher at Maimi-dade parks asking for our support of this park. There will be a meeting help on 1/19/2010 in Naples (More to follow) and he has asked that as many people as possible please show up and support this. I don't know yet all the details but what i do know is this.

1) No night riding
2) About 12 miles of trails
3) There will be about the same number of hiking trails.fishing,camping.

Here's the website for this. I will pass on more info as it becomes available...Thxs Rick

12 miles of trails @ 15mph speed limit will take all of 48 minutes. But, before anyone complains, we'd better take what we can get and demonstrate responsibility, if we ever hope to expand legal riding areas.

The 19th is a tuesday I will write in for a day off. Will you post the location in Naples? Even though I still dont have an ATV I would like to help secure a place that I can ride and eventually take my kids when they get older.

The county voted 4-0 to approve this, it now goes to Tallahassee for DCA approval. The Sierra club and Friends of the Everglades where there in opposition but it still passed anyway....

Any indication when the improvements will launch and when the facility will open?

It's probably at least a couple of years away but you can ride there right now.

I've seen the plan for the 1600 acres that every agency and their mothers has said no way, no how, aint gonna happen!!!  and it only had a 7 mile loop ,15mph one way for atv's thats it!  all the rest is fishing pier, sight seeing, bird watching.  not much of a plan for 64,000+ registered off road vehicles in a tri-county area.
