Couple of quick questions, Drain oil first I gather? Is the part one piece or more then one? Any trick to removing the u joint or is it obvious? does the seal/bearing come out easy, I know on mu BF 750 it can be rather difficult
Thanks Matt.

u joint is a pain in neck. yes drain oil or jack bike up so rear seal is high and oil wont leak out. there is dust sheild in front of seal if i rember right its connected to the yoke and comes off in one peice. i did it atleast 15 times so i just used to doing it trying to rember step by step. i might have forgot one but u got basic idea and should be able to get it. i would replace u joint when u do that seal its only another 30 bucks and well worth it. if u joint breaks it rips your rear end off, dont ask me how i no feel free toc all any time if u get stuck along the way or if u want one weekend bring it to my place and ill do it for you

once you get the yoke out of the engine, use a flathead screwdriver to pop the seal out, rubber mallet to tap the new one in and put everything back together in reverse order. the seal is so ungodly easy, just time consuming. you dont need anybody to help you. i dont mean to question anybodys "skills" but i fuckin hate it when anybody works on my sh*t. none of my bikes or trucks will ever see a dealership. however, i work at one hahah.

Thanks all, should have the seal late this week, early next week and see how it goes. Seems strange as they wouldn't stock this part as they seem to go all the time, just like my Kawi.

I gather the needle bearings are in the caps? The universal joint is shot anyway as one of the caps had broken on one side (before we worked on it) so the u-joint is worn.... as Matt said it would be!

Well getting the u-joint apart was a nightmare but it's done. Hope to not have to do that again anytime soon.

I have not removed the big bolt yet behind the u-joint. I would suspect the engine will turn over while trying to remove this no? If so how you keep it from turning? Thanks.

Well I would not call this an easy job but it's done. It would be easy if not fot the u-joint but that thing is a pain in the butt. I can't imagine that you could do this without having to replace the u-joint. Keeping the caps and bearings in place on an old one while trying to remove it seems imposible.
