Get this... I get a call on my cell phone at 5:30am this morning. It's my sister.. The Coral Springs police are at her house. Some 18 year old kid with a gun broke into the house, rummaged around the kitchen, fixed himself a glass of water for gods sake, then grabbed her purse, cell phone and keys.. walked out to the garage, opened the garage door, and drove off in the family minivan. Now my sister walked into the open doorway leading into the garage as the guy is starting up the van, so she calls 911, gives them the tag # etc, etc. This lead to a police chase that involved Coral Springs, Margate, Coconut Creek, and BSO... They caught them both.. the car is trashed.. but everyone is ok. I keep telling her that's all that matters. I just can't believe the balls some creeps have. Some SOB pulls that at my house, and he will meet his maker real damn quick. I am just blown away at the att this... never been involved in sh*t like this.

That sucks. At least everyone is alright and they caught the guy. He definately had some major balls, lol. The gun idea is good, but just like FLB says... if she's not prepared to use it without hesitation then she shouldnt get one. I would recommend MASE as well. It'll be a little less nearve racking on someone to use... and it gives you that extra time to get away and get to help.

You should post the names of the perps.
It will be interesting to see how the justice system deals with them.
These people are obviously a danger to society and should be sent away for a long, long, time.
Monday, there was a 74 year old gentleman who shot a guy while the guy was trying to break into his house. They haven't arrested the 74 year old yet, but I suspect some over litigious attorney will pursue a case against the man for protecting himself and his property.
It's a sad state of affairs when people who live in the land of opprotunity prey on others.

when illegals enter my house steel panels fall on all openings and the f-er is stuck in. Then we get medieval with the purp! Throw him out with the trash on the next pickup.
That sucks dude.
A simple $10.00 motion alarm works wonders. Most punks will split once the alarm goes off. Homedepot has them.

I agree about the dog, Its your first line of defence. The second line of defence should be a security system. Now that this has happened to her the odds of it ever happening again are extremely slim. I feel for her also being a victim of a violent crime. She must feel so violated and now unsafe in her own home. The security system doesn't have to be too elaborate. Just door and window sencers that make lotz of noise, motion sesitive lights outside, and a well displayed security sign out front. They would rather move on to an easier target then deal with one with a big dog or alarm.

Sometime this year it will become legal to shoot anyone anywhere if you feel that person is going to cause you bodily harm or damage your property. Don't usually like the Bush clan But thanks to Jeb Florida is being turned back over to the law abiding citizens. My prayers ate w/you and yours. Makarov 9MM.

Get a dog and a gun (as long as your willing to use it). The dog gives you a warning so you can get out of bed and shoot the jerk. In actuality, small dogs are better guard dogs than large ones as they will bark at anything. The robber will go two doors down and rob your neighbor. Security system signs are a good deterent even of you don't have an actual security system.
Still think my Rottie and .45 will offer more protection than dialing 911.

Swamp Rat made good point regarding the small dogs . If your sister does'nt want to deal with large dogs then two small ankle bitters and a gun will do wonders. Get her an ruger mini 30 w/ a 30rnd mag ,talk about excitement ! Next SOB wont be so lucky.

any dog is a good alarm. it sounds like the guy went crazy. i knew a guy when i was younger that was fine for years, then one day he just flipped out he was breaking into friends houses living under porches and all sorts of weird stuff. he accualy tried to stab one of my moms friends because she came home and he was on her phone. one old school lesson and he was never heard from again.
it sucks but people loose it from time to time i'm glad no one was hurt.

Speaking from lots of experience, a protective dog is way more valuable than an alarm. The dog is always there. The alarm has flaws, and is not an instant solution to the problem. Besides, crooks and crackheads dislike nasty dogs, but they arent too afraid of a loud beeping sound as long as they can score some fast $ for a fix.

That's like my dogs kawGIRL. They're big black labs but they wouldn't do anything except lick you to death. They sure sound mean though when they hear a noise. Just knowing that they're with me when Bobby isn't around makes me feel safer.
I'd like to think that the idiots braking in would just move on to the next house if they heard my pups protecting the place. Although there are some pretty ballsy criminals out there these days.
