im geting a hmf for my rancher but at the place im buying it from say that i dont have to jet it is that true

That's the same exhaust I'm looking to get also. Let me know how it is if you happen to get it. I would rejet the carb though.

isn't the condition of your plug(color on plug insulator) and condition of exhaust(soot/carbon, etc. in pipe) gonna tell you if you need to tune jets?

Checking plugs on a 4 stroke is useless, just go by how well it runs, and if it's poping. Once you get a VERY slight pop on decel, you're perfect. If you don't need to rejet, then there is no gain.
