Is a rarely used 05 kx250f worth as much as my used 05 kfx 400?  I paid $6000 for my kfx400 brand new and the kx250f was $5300 brand new, however the fenders on my kfx are wobbly from broken braces and I have no tail light.  I know the 05 kx dirtbikes do not have the aluminum frame, how much better does the aluminum frame make the bike?  I can not really afford to lose any money (value) right now... What do you guys think?  Anything else i should be aware of?

Na the 05 bike was $5400 and my quad was $6000.  The reason I am hesitant is because I read in a dirtbike magazine the 05 kx 250f has pretty poor suspesion and I did pay $600 more for my kfx.

id trade. the bikes are so much fun and faster. if your bike was a 05 450, then yeah, maybe get a lil cash. but a 400 isnt as nice as the dirtbike. i dont think anyway. i traded my CRF450 for a TRX450 even. both were in mint condition and within $100 kbb value too i think. id say jump on it for a 400 vs a 250f, you wont regret it. id still have my CRF if it wernt for RR.

If you want a bike, you will love how easy that 250f is to ride.  I had a 250f and a z400 and the 250f is like a z400 on steriods.  Don't worry about the handling, you will have to get the suspension redone for your weight and how you ride.  The good thing is that you don't have to buy new shocks or forks, just get them rebuilt, much less than new shocks.

exactly, if you get one its a very smart thing to get them rebuilt by factory connection or pro circuit or someone. those are 2 very big and well known ones. probably more than some too. doug harvey is good, and theres alot other smaller people that do a very good job.

I think Doug harvey would do it all for less than $300.  Takes him 3-4 hours.  He is in Deland and does a lot of FTR racers bikes.
