Question: What top 3 factors will improve rider turnout?
Lower fuel prices
Cooler weather
Race at more tracks
Race at one track
Short series (for ex 6 races)
Long series (for ex 10 races)
More TT Races
None of these factors matter, I will still come race.

Time to put in your two cents...
Feel free to post your answer if I haven't listed it as a choice above.
In case some don't know option 8 is a joke so please don't vote for that one...this means you Gary Sisson!

This is just my opinion.  I feel like we need more exposure for sure.   We also like the idea of racing at different tracks, alot of us live in other areas and it is nice to not have to drive so far some of the time.
Thats all folks!!!

Wink  brady - just bought some number plates from a seller on ebay for two new bikes im building for next year. asked him if he knew about the thunderbowl reopening. said he used to race there but didn't know it reopened. told him all about it and gave the websites out.   just my two cents but i think that if the potential riders and fans don't know about the races going on not too much is going to change any time soon. i was thinking about a flyer that list all the races of the season advertised in the born to ride magazine. i know it wouldn't be cheap but the potiential payoff should offset the expense. hopefully more riders and fans!

the poll you ran is a great idea but it only effects the people that already know about the sdta and race. i know the word will spread form the riders, im doing my best, but i think that smart advertising in the right media will be the best answer.

Hello,
Before you advertise with Born to Ride let Squeezer know, he is good friends with Ron Gilletti, we actually spoke with Ron a few months ago about coming out and filming some footage of the races and showing on the Born To Ride TV show, this still may be possible.   We also are working on an article to print in Full Throttle Magazine.  What about the MX magazines I see at Cycle Gear and RTM in Tampa?Huh  I will pick one up next time I go so Brady can have the info to call.

I can do some more flyers. What I would like to do is get some pictures of the carts and some of the TT races. I will get some of the TT race on Oct. 4. Then I'd need some for the carts. I'd like to make one with all the dates on it for the different races then I can break it down to the individual race weekends for the TT, carts, flat-track and mud bog races.
I've got things pretty well set up so it wouldn't be that hard to take care of. Just one suggestion; a flyer that shows all the races for the rest of the year can be done on an 11x17 format which when printed will stand out a bit more than an 8.5x11, plus, it gives me more room to put pertinent info on it with some pictures for visuals about the racing.
Maybe that will keep the jumped starts and black flags away! lol

I agree that advertising is always a good thing. but where is the best "bang for the buck"? Brady did some radio advertising last year. I'm sure he'll tell you it was not the best investment. Ocala Speedway and Sumter have both done radio advertising with very poor results. We also had flyers all over the place last year. We have not got any flyers yet this year. I think he just completed the schedule thru 08 last Saturday. I heard him talking to someone about getting some new flyers made and I think I heard him say something about a coupon type flyer for new entrants? He'd be the one to say for sure. I know he also cut way back on gate & entry fees for kids to help promote the pee wee racing.

I don't get involved in any track business type stuff. I'm sure he has plans for promotions, advetising, etc. But I think the poll is meant to be more like "what happened" type thing. I didn't go to any of the first SDTA races, but I understand the races went from 60-70 entries early on to  around 20-30 now? What happened to the rest of the people?

Also, Dave posted the poll. Brady's not been around too much lately.

Cool  the type of people that like motorcycle racing in very limited. mostly bikers and people that race. i think that the born to ride media would be the best. ron is a personal friend of mine too and his magazine goes all throughout florida and georgia and everywhere else.  he also has a tv show that mostly bikers watch. so i think a full or half page flyer in the mag ,that would be in everyone face all year, would pay off best. you would be targeting the right people all the time. local tv and radio is a waste.
i don't care for full throttle it's mostly ads and paul allen is a jerk anyway.

as far as the poll i think the economy and gass slowed things down. i know it's been kickin my butt since last june!!

It's hard to judge why the low turn out for the last couple months. The heat and rain all summer could have played a big role. A fall/winter series could do much better.

Something that could help is posting the scheduled races with more lead time. Myself and others prepare our race schedules far in advance. It can be difficult making a race if there is only a week or so notice.

Another idea is if you want more people at every race then have less races. The cost of maintaining the machines, gas, tires, etc to race every 2 weeks can be difficult on the wallet.
