Scooter hit me on US.27

Saturday around 3:30pm I leave Miami mx park, I am heading north on 27 nearing Griffin, my speed is 45-50mph. I see a man on a scooter about to exit the BBQ/Gas station place just north of griffin, I am driving in the left lane, the man on the scooter starts to pull out into the right lane, about the time my front passenger door passes him, this guy starts to merge into my lane, I swerve a little to the left(trying not to flip my truck into the median) to avoid the collision, too late. This bald guy with NO HELMET sideswipes my truck pretty much at the rear passenger tire. I skid, stopping just north of the crossover. I jump out to see if he is ok, He is on the ground still stradling(sp.) his scooter, his head is bloody, pool of blood around his head, not moving at all. Police arive very quickly, lifeflight lands on the highway takes the guy away, cops told me he had a strong odor of booze, others told me he was drinking at the bbq place prior to the accident, the impact of the scooter put a nice hole in my tire sidewall and a nice dent on the side of the bed. Changed my tire and was on my way. Long story short dont drink and ride, I am pretty sure if this man had a helmet on he would of walked away with just minor rash....live and learn!

What a way to ruin your day huh? Feeling guilty about hitting some drunk guy who should've stayed at home? Who's fixing the dent and paying for the new tire? Did he have insurance at all? Probably not.

So hows Miami mx lookin, I havent been there in a while and was told the track is longer now, they told me it goes around the east side a little more. were there any flaggers that day cause the guys that told me they go all the time say theres never any flaggers there ever!!!
