its always worth having a cdl class B or A, but on the down side is that you would have to drive for a small company until you get a few years experiance before you can apply at a larger company with much better pay and benefits.
You could also gain the experience by going to work for one of the larger carriers and work as a team driver (although that can be a very negative experience if you don't have the right lead driver). After you get some solid experience, then you can get a decent job driving local for someone like Sysco Foods.
