I would say put a Keihn FCR 39mm Carb on there.

List the mods that you currently have and I am sure a few of the 400ex guru's will chime in and hook you up.

on a more serious note, a pipe, jet kit, filter, and ignition from moose or someone would help. if you already have those, call ATP and get it ported and polished and high comp piston, new cam, maybe a 440 kit. pipes are different too where they make power. you can look for someone to custom build a low-mid hitting pipe or the HMF Ironman is supposed to deliver a low-mid range hit. but, when yu look at these prices, it might be cheaper and easier to get a 450R.

^^ I agree, if you haven't gotten to deep into it yet, you might as well part ways with it, and start new with something more powerful.

if you want quick throttle response, look into a moose cdi ignition mod. its plug in and play (if you dont have other mods that require jetting). my brute 650 did good wheelies before, but after putting my moose cdi on, itll stand up from a dead stop. not only that but it gives you more power all over the powerband. pair that with an exhaust system, jetting and a good air filter..youll be good

TRX450R.  Tongue

Aint' that the truth. I have always loved my 400ex until I rodes my buddies stock 450's the other weekend. The difference in power is night and day.

This is gonna sound way to easy but I did it when I first got my 400EX......ready?...............wait for it..............drop one tooth on the front sprocket. That's it! try it and see what happens.

The 400 comes tuned way out of its league with other 400's . so you have to give a little to get a little. Drop the front sprocket one tooth, increase the diameter of rim and tire in the back by one, get an open header, run a denso plug, open your air box, jet kit, stay with foam filter if you ride in sand a lot, adjust tire pressure, it is the little things you do to the 400EX that makes it a fun ride. Mine personally will not beat my buddies stock KFX400. I can out run a 450r in the long run but stay three lengths behind at take off. I keep up thru the trails though. spend the $17.00 and try it.

it may come tuned down but its way more reliable than any others. id almost rather have one than a 450R cause of maintenance and reliability. i rode my buddies 400ex the other day and i really miss mine now.

I used to think the YFZ was all that and six bags of potato chips unitl I got a hold of the Suzuki450 with a cherry bomb. Hold on cause yer hair is getting peeled off your forehead! I love that thing. Its just not comfy like the YFZ and the YFZ is way more stable on power slides and jumps I think.
