I Need Help!!! "Roketa"

The name says it all, and I know how stupid I am for buying it. Ok with that said, I have a 250cc SidexSide UV, How do you test the magneto without tearing down the motor?

Well first of all, The ignition switch is bad and I have to jump it with a screwdriver and the thing turns over and over. I don't have any spark at the spark plug and have tested the plug and tried another, same thing no spark. Is there a way to test the wires comming out of the magneto?

disconnect every wire from the back of the key. your key is bad and its like having the kill switch on all the time. you cant just use a screwdriver to jump the starter pin to the power becasue you still have a bad key which is connected to your kill wires. the key probably got water in it. replace the key and im sure youl be fine.

Ok, Thanks I'll try that. I hope its that easy. What are the chances a Honda ignition switch would fit this, I've heard others say that some parts are exchangable like the CDI box.
I'll follow up on my project.
This was is my last one.

thats a nice golf cart, but i think i have one thatl beat it
lol.
yea, a keyswitch is a keyswitch. the only difference is the kill feature of the switch could close the circuit or open it, it depends which kind you need. i know on an automotive switch it opens the circuit atvs are typically the same. if the key is the wrong kind you can put a relay on it and it will work. so basically yes, you can use any key and im pretty sure if the key came from an atv it should go right on there with no issues.

I got it through "freecycle" a site developed to aleviate landfill strain. I had it for sale but didn't realize what it meant to the family(wife), Oh did I say that out loud. ANYHOW, back to the Roketa. How do I hotwire it. I read the previous post and will see what colors I have but I don't want to injure it.

This might help,
The wires are labeled into the plastic on the switch;
AM - Black
IG1 - Black/White
Acc - Blue
ST - Black/Yellow
IG2 - Red/Blue
I don't need to fry anything!! So was wondering how these connect.

that key switch is pretty simple, just match them up to your new key and if you do something wrong, i doubt it will hurt anything.
my golf cart may not be as purty, but it will blow yours doors off lol... 50hp rotax 503 2 stroke

lol, yea the boat key had water in it. the golf cart tops out at around 40mph due to way to low gearing, but it gets from 0-40 in just a few seconds lol.
your going to need a multi meter to figure out what wires go where. one of those wires is hot from the battery, all you have to do to figure out which is your power wire is check if your getting 12volts off of it with your multimeter on the voltage setting. when the key goes into start position it will connect the main power to the starter solenoid, putting power to the starter solenoid is what starts it. you need to figure out what wire this your starter solenoid is tho, you may be able to trace the wire back from the starter solenoid, or just use the ohm setting on your multi meter to see.your type of ignition has 2 kill wires, when they are connected together the motor will run, when broken it kills it. so your key is no different than an automotive style key switch. and it seems that your key has an acc position? this must be your headlights, right? so you need to go and get yourself a multi meter if you dont already have one.
so to make it simple, if you want to start it with out your key, just make sure the ignition wires are touching at all times, then touch the starter wire to your hot 12v wire. when you want to kill the motor pull your 2 ignition wires apart and it will die.

i doubt you will find that anywere but online. and even online your going to be dealing with stuff coming directly from china. i had a off brand offroad go cart i fixed for a friend and it took months to get parts in.
if its just those splines that are striped than there are a few ways you can get that fixed, but it depends on weather you want it to come out nice or if that thing is a pos junker... like for example, drilling a small hole and thru bolting it. or grinding a biger gap between the clamping area so you can clamp it on there tighter, or welding it directly on.

Well I guess it dosen't matter really, but I could kick myself sometimes for tring to be so dam OEM, if you know what I mean. I'm pretty sure the black piece (lever) has been cobbled together.
I just don't want to create a bigger problem if I go welding things, and another thing is if I get it in the wrong place. I think it was slipping when I adjusted it. But it ran like a raped ape when You got it running for me, I went a whole 200 yards. Are you ready to race!!!

Alright since I'm still on top of the forum I'll ask. I seem to have a carborator like none other I have ever seen, There is only an idle screw that is maxed out to the in position. My Roketa will idle just bearley touching the gas, rough but it idles. As soon as I let go the motor quites. It would work if the screw was a 1/2 an inch longer or less, and thats not right. Any insight??

there is an air fuel screw and an idle screw. the air fuel screw should NEVER be all the way in. turn it about one turn out for now and adjust the idle speed screw up untill it idles. you can tweak on the air fuel screw to get better throttle response and just adjust the idle speed to match so that it idles at the proper rpm.

the screw in your pic is the air fuel screw. i cant tell you for sure were your idle adjustment is. you might just adjust it on the throttle cable, or it could be a screw. keep in mind, turning the air fuel screw in means less air, so it will lower your idle, turning it out will make it idle faster. the trick is to not use this screw to adjust idles, adjust it so you have good throttle response and if that happens to make it iddle to high or to low, make up the difference with the idle speed adjustment. im trying to make it simple to understand but its kinda hard to teach someone to adjust a carb online lol so feel free to ask questions if ya don't get it.

Ok, I'm lost then because I thought this was the idle screw, all it does is stops the the accelerator from shuting down, but the adjustment is spent, and then some. If I turn it clockwise it just, well it is supposed to push the throttle back so it doesen't close. shouldn't the air/fuel screw be something going into the carb somewhere. Forgive me for the ignorance.

sorry but i looked at the picture wrong. you are correct, that is the idle speed adjustment. if it wont idle with it all the way adjusted out then you need to turn your air fuel screw out some. find the air fuel and turn it out, yoiu will see that the idle will rase up as you screw it out. get it so your idle speed adjustment has some range of adjustment to it and then tune your air fuel so that you have good throttle response... or atleast good enough for it to just runs half decent. this is a 4 stroke right?

Yes it is a 4 stroke, and I will look for the other screw tomorrow and do what you said. I'll get this some day... It really agravated me that no cycle shop in the country was open today and I just had to watch kids all day, or I may have had some answers. Thanks again and I'll post back on my success.
