Collier Not Waiting Around for ATV Site

Collier County Commissioners decided they're taking ATV matters into their own hands. They have been waiting for 5 years to get a place for ATV riders to run free.  But the South Florida Water Management District hasn't come through on its promise to find one. So the county voted Wednesday to do it themselves.


SFWMD told the county five years ago it would find a new spot after the water district took control of land ATV riders used to have to themselves.  With the promise still unmet, Collier County voted today to negotiate a cash settlement; then use that money to find a place on its own.  The water management district opposed the vote, and neither side discussed a specific dollar settlement.


The county is asking ATV riders to help identify potential sites.

buy up all that land in northport where everyone rode til n,p cops and commish shut it down. now's the time to shove it back up their a$$e$  and the state should refund the title money from the 5 yr interest on that $$$$   no housing boom there

you know what the funiest part is, i live in collier county and we already have had one of the best local riding spots forever, in not legal but the cops dont bother us and the fwc tells us its ok as long as we don't ride in the designated land they don't want us on... maybe they will buy that land and make it legal...

if you're talking about the EXT...I got kicked out with Ian the other day because the golf course wanted to press charges for us out on our track we've had for 2 years. We got out with a warning. Next time, we get arrested.
