Yeah man a jet kit is a good idea if your planning on modding a little at a time, so you always have another jet to go to.  I got the DYNOJET stage 1/2 kit and it worked out for me.  For a pipe i'd just get a slip on and save your money, changing the stock headpipe won't really do much, its too big from the factory, the only thing it will do is make it shiney.  HMF slip on's run around 200 bucks for the aluminum version, and 220 for a powdercoated can.  Don't waste your money on a stock replacement filter, they all blow, get a pro design intake with the adapter plate that your attatch to your airbox.  The stock rear tires have decent bite but weak sidewalls, you'll feel it when cornering, not as bad when you extend the axle. I have a durablue 2+2, it was 290 from rockymountain atv, had no problems with it.

Oh i forgot to add an oil cooler would be a good idea to help keep the clutch plates cool, look up a parts listing on a 95 big bear, you'll see it has the same motor and had an oil cooler, you order the parts and buy a small tranny cooler and mount it up, helps alot with just an air cooled motor.

Im in jersey now bud, ill be in pinellas park at the end of march.  If you want a little extra something when its stock you can get a 12 tooth front sprocket, you can pick one up for around 10-15 bucks and it'll give you more bottom end for trails and stuff, once you get some mods you can always throw the stock 13 back on to get your top speed back.

a jet kit consists of new jet,s a new needle, and slide spring. One your atv, when you add performance parts like a air filter or pipe, you let more air into the motor, what the jet kit does it add more fuel so you can keep the same ratiot of air/fuel in your motor.  If you add a filter and don't jet for it, the mixture becomes to lean and you can break your motor, you need to have that right ratio to keep things safe and to make more power. Like i said, get an intake, a pipe, jet kit, and that sprocket, you'll be very happy with the new und power

You can do it yourself, its not hard to change a jet, its a little annoying when you have to keep doing it to get it right but i have jet chenges down to like 5 minutes.  Expect to spend like 45 minutes to an hour the first time changing the needle and all that other good stuff.
