You could setup your own club, and be part of FTR and hold races through them.  There is already SEFTR in Palm Beach.  I think we have a ton of riders here(south)  we just need to kick em in the arse a little and get them to participate.  Thats the tough part.  From what I've heard, not many people down here know about FTR.  PM sent.

It is true there are many more dirtbikes than quads, but it is a club for all.
4x4Matt, FTR is a club that sanctions races hosted by 20 different clubs across Florida.
These races vary from MX to XC to Enduro.
The key is the clubs that host the races. They are the folks that have some land somewhere they ride on. It's not a free-for-all piece of land and doesn't appeal to some. However, if you are into family and camping and riding, then it would be.
http://floridatrailriders.org/ftr_clubs.htm#clubs
Here is a list of the 20 clubs around Florida. It is these clubs that work together to make FTR what it is. By just being involved in the whole process, you could literally ride all over and camp in Florida for free. Of course you would work, but doing what? Riding around making trails?? I believe this is what we like to do anyway.

We have people in our club that don't even race. They just like to ride and put the events on.

Now that you know what it is, get set up for next season and tell all your riding buddys what FTR is. Come to one event and race and youll be hooked!

It isnt cutting it, but its better than nothing. FTR is'nt going to spend any money on advertising after the bad financial season this year so it's up to the members to do the advertising.  You feel as though we are not getting the word out, then we need to come up with some ideas. I think this was disscussed before and quickly forgotten about. We had plenty of good ideas but no application of them. We need to come up with some ideas and use them this time.

You can also go to Florida quad riders .com, alot of racers frequent this site. You can also check out the gallery to see some pics of racing, to get an idea.

There are Utility classes, too!
It seems behind the scenes, clubs and officials are working hard to come up with a solution to the whole issue of quad pee wee and youth racers

I would join the club closest to you thats listed on the Florida Trail Riders website. As far as the bike, nerfs and good tires are very helpful. You also MUST have a spark arrestor and an exhaust that is no louder than 96db, you will be sound checked at the race. A tether kill switch is also required. You as a rider MUST have boots and an approved helmet.

I would join a South Florida club

i can't speak for any local clubs but Florida Trail Riders is a non-profit organization aimed specifically at our interests. not only do we get together regularly to race and have fun, as a group we are actively working in talahassee to get more land approved for LEGAL ATV/dirtbike use. there are currently about 2700 members with perhaps 10% turning out at each event. It is true that there are way more bikes than quads but who cares when at an FTR event 150 Quads turn up from all across the state to ride in a 40 mile - 2 hour race.
