Everytime I go to Disney, I try to peak over the wall, but their very strict. One day when I have some spare cash, I'll try it. I've already done 173mph on the road, but I was looking for cops big time!!
I did it this past Saturday and they actually encourage spectators; it's free of charge. When you go through the gate to the Magic Kingdom, stay to the left then turn at the sign, through the tunnel and onto the infield. I did 18 laps and it was a blast. I also went for the ride before I drove so I could see how hard you can take it through the corners. The ride takes you to somewhere near 150 mph. Unfortunately, they don't let you drive anywhere close to the limit but it's fun just the same. I turned a 39 second lap with a top speed of 126 mph (instructor said there is a 36 second lap time limit at that track for safety reasons but it's nearly impossible for the instructor to judge what a 36 second lap will be so they keep you reigned in). It was the top speed of the day and 4 mph faster than they said we would see on the track during the driver's meeting. My big complaint was that I definitely could have gone much faster. I had to feather the throttle down the back stretch and was out-accelerating the instructor coming out of the corners, which forced me to back off, especially turn three, going onto the front stretch. I'm sure it took several seconds and mph off my lap times. I'm going to try it again, maybe Homestead, definitely Daytona and probably Disney again; it really is a very cool track. There was one guy that spun exiting turn two but luckily didn't hit the wall. If you can't swing the cash to drive, I highly recommend the ride. It's the fastest $90.00 you'll spend but it's worth it.
