im fine but we just got power back and many still dont i spent 5 hrs monday put fires out that just kept starting back cause of the wind. i had to bust into my niebors house to save 3 dogs 1 cat and tree birds.the house three houses down burnt down along with 5 in on my block.i ran 2 everyone around me knocking on doors and making sure everyone was out. ill get pics soon and maybe vid if it dont take too long.thanks mark and eveyone for being worred. this countryboy can survive i inhaled alot of smoke putin out my niebors houses and yards i had huge bumps around my head and my cheast hurt but it was worth it.we saved a baby owl too hes eating and drinking hes very calm.we prob over heated my tranny, but we blown up my master cylinder by driving so hard and slaming on brakes to get around fires.the fire was so crazy i cant put it in words.the flp men are doing and awsome job and are kicking butt. thanks to all the fire fighters and the electricians.

dude, don't be too proud to ask if you need anything, there are tons of people on here that don't live very far and could help out with anything you or your neighbors may need. I know I'm only about an hour away, so please don't hesitate to ask.

glad to hear that your ok, i had thought for sure your house was burnt down and u were living in your truck lol. hope you didnt overheat your trans because to be honest iv never heard of a 700r4 lasting more than about 150-160k miles and yours has 140k and overheating those things absolutely kills them... i know my overbuilt 700hp 4l80e runs hot as hell with 3 trans coolers just cruising around offroad, its easy to overheat em...

In 2009 the budget cuts take effect for Fire and Police because of the "yes" vote to cut your property taxes. So, next year during brush fire season when you see fewer firefighters, more of our trucks breaking down and wonder why can't "they" get control of these fires..........remember how you voted when you start pointing fingers......you may need to point it at yourself. Let me know if it was really worth it.

While I have a good friend who is on the West Palm FD, another on the Orlando FD and a cousin on the Maitland FD, this is a point where we disagree, and I'll tell you why.
I appreciate tremendously that if I ever have a house fire, or vehicle accident or any other emergency that the first responders will be there, the above statement is a line fed to you by the union representatives who have not thought the process through.
In the last ten years, the property tax collection for each county has gone up how much?
In the last ten years, the salaries of the first respondders has gone up how much?
The "Yes" vote set the property tax collections back about a year and a half of increases.
You tell me where the math doesn't add up.
You cannot make the argument that services have to be cut because of a 1.5 year stagnation when the tax roll has gone up about 15% per year when the salaries for first responders has gone up an average of 3% per year(I may be being optimistic here).
The rhetoric that the politicians are spewing about having to cut fire and police jobs is exactly what I would expect out of a politician.
Let's simplify, if my numbers hold up from above, this means that the money collected from property tax has gone up 150% in ten years and the money given out to the first responders has gone up 30%, with the "Yes" vote, we cut the money collected back to a 135% increase,,,,as far as I can tell that still leaves 105% increase in tax collection that the local governments are now saying they can't pay their first responders from.
Am I missing something here?
Also, how many times over the last 10 years has the fire union or the police union failed to get a signifigant increase in pay for their members? I remember a couple years ago that my friend who was on MaitlandFD and moved to West Palm only got a 2% increase while the rate of inflation went up 3.5%,,,,so basically the department told him he was worth less than the year before,,,,,this prompted him to move to West Palm where he immediately got a 29% pay increase.
So, again, am I missing anything?

Regardless, Departments are looking at budget cuts, not buying much NEEDED new equipment and laying off Firefighters and Officers.

I won't argue that point, the reason that the politicians are claiming they are doing this is what I am arguing.

the house that was surrounded by police was because a armed robber was trying to steal stuff in day light in front of cops 2 houses down.fires have bassically stoped now.but there are some areas the FD is still watching because of 2 reasons #1 still one more arsonist still out there which has a $15,000 reward for info that leads up to his capture.#2 some areas are still smoldering.pics soon

Don't feel to bad but I've seen MUCH worse in 1998 in the Mims/Scottsmoore area. I still see alot of green in your pictures. I'm sure it was bad as well as scary for you but its not the worst brush fire I've had to fight and I went to Palm Bay this week.
