I keep hearing about how bad the little Raptors are and buy this one or buy that one. Well its time to put a end to it! My son Raptor 50 does 30+ mph. Oh yes that right. The Quads was design for small riders in mind. Small handlebars, brake handles and switchs for little hands. what happens when you put him on a bigger Quad? Well you know. Now back to make the 50 and the 80 faster. They both have different things done to them at the factory. The 50 more because it was design for smaller rides. You have to start with the carb. #1 rejet carb (main jet 80. pilot jet 12.5 replace the slide with part# 2HX-14112-35-00 also need to replace main nozzle to part# 2HX-14141-78-00. Ok carb done let move on.remove the two screw on throttle housing, you will see a gold bracket you need to replace with part# 36B-2625H-00. NOW YOU HAVE FULL THROTTLE! on the 80 dont replace the slide or the bracket just rejet. remove all of the air cleaner assy and install KN air filter with outerwear. this is part one of many mods for more wait for more post or go to www.raptor80racing.com ask for al. great guy will help you with all your needs.Yamaha Rules dont let anybody tell you different.

Chris, the rev limter can be replace but first you have to change the wiring harness to a raptor 80 harness the connector are different the part number is 5TH-82590-00-00 its about $83.00. We are testing a adjustment CDI box that self adjusting to different power curve and we can adjust the rev limter. So far its working great. but before we have them make we are going test some more. you can use the CDI box off a Badger from 92 to 94 part number is 4EM-85540-00-00. it also has a rev limter, but you can red line eng to full power. PM me with a phone number and I call you to explain little more.

ok i PM ya,

i talked to a guy at raptor 80 racing a few months ago and he said he had a company working on making a new cdi box, what would be ideal would be a box like the eton 70 that has 7 adjustments so you can set the limiter at different levels. i dont need to do this now but it would be nice to know i can do it.....

Chris, the badger does have a rev limter. But its set to red line the eng. not like the 50.The 80 give you 1000 rpm more than the 50. You stated before you change the tires to 18". did you change the rims or just the tires? You can change the hubs with a Champ and get a bolt pattern of 4/100 like the Blaster. The guy from raptor80racing his name is Al Millis we been work together to repair what Yamaha did to the little Raptors.I have one of the new CDI box that I am testing. Do the carb mod first the burst of power will keep him happy for a little bit. I will call you in the afternoon and give more information. Race On !

ok ricky thanks,
i change both tires and wheels got em from raptor80racin,
same bolt pattern but used the wheel spacers. to widen it some. id be interested in one of those new cdi boxes for sure any idea when they might be available? im still waiting on the parts from my yamaha dealer and will see how much it improves. he doesnt "need" the cdi box now but hes already bored with the speed it has now, and hes only had it for 2 months plus hes on the limiter the whole time.........

hey bigg,

i swapped over the parts today nice difference, but he will get tired of that too. if you guys are coming up with a new cdi. id rather wait for that, than changing the harness and cdi w/ a  badger's. LMK ASAP when you guys get a fix, please!!

Chris,
The part number for the rear hub are 2HX-25383-00-00 which give you a bolt pattern of 4/100. remember you will also need lug nuts.
