   Hey guys,
Here are a few issues that need work. Please help us out.
1) Number plates:
There were several racers that didn't have enough numbers or with numbers that are difficult to read. I spotted a blue and white MC that had numbers only on a front plate but no numbers on the side plates. I also saw a quad with a single 6 on the front hood but no rear plate or a number on the rider's back. Please remember if your number can't be easily read then you may not be scored correctly. M/C should all be numbered on the side plate and all quads should at least have a visible number on the front and rear.

2) Safety Gear: Please do not ride in the pit area any faster than a crawl and definately no faster than first gear. Always wear a helmet even in the pits. Don't clear out you motor in the pits unless you are in neutral, that is what the warm up lap is for. Also please do not enter the track without all required gear even in practice. It was brought to Brady's attention by the track owner that someone was on the track during practice wearing short pants. The guy on the track after the race was over was the owner's son and I was told he got chewed out afterwards.

As a reminder, mandatory safety gear includes:
Helmet
Eye Protection
Long Pants
Long Sleeves
Gloves
Boots that cover the Ankles
Kill Cord (quads only)

Insurance continues to be the biggest headache this year. One of the options is for us as a group to purchase our own policy. These policies however have explicit exclusions regarding what the insurance company will not pay for in the event of a loss. One thing we never want to do is give them a reason to deny a claim because we didn't comply with the requirements of the policy. Race attendance seems to be rising and so does the the chance of injury but we had a large turnout at Auburndale and finished the day safely. Thanks to everyone for a safe race.
As always ideas and comments are welcomed.
                                 Dave

Question --
I was told in practice before the race last week at Thunderbowl that I would not be allowed to race without a chest protector --- After borrowing one and racing -- I came here and found out that it was not a requirement.  This is a bit confusing for me and I am sure for some others.  I don't want to cause a fuss - I just want to know exactly what is required and what isn't required so that I don't cause a fuss. Please clarify this for all of us.
Also if I wear a leather riding suit do I still have to wear a chest protector?

The staff at Thunderbowl will tell you point blank that you need a chest protector. If there is ever an issue with someone not having a chest protector or forgetting it, etc. just let me know and I will find you one to borrow. If I can't find one you can wear one of mine.

And no, if you wear leathers you don't need to wear a chest protector.

No fuss. Thanks for asking.

Riding with protective gear is a no-brainer. It may get hot as hell but I'll wear my pressure suit and knee braces/protectors. Dress for the slide not the ride!!!
