Seriously?

I spent four hours detailing my truck tonight. I used the excuse to myself that it will "dry faster" if I take it for a spin.
I put it in reverse and the truck won't go. Ok, let me shift back to park. Now lets shift to reverse again... hit the gas and the truck starts shaking as I do. Give a little more gas and it stops the shaking. I back into the street and go down to the dead end to circle around. I slow down and start to turn around the circle, I give it some gas and it acts as if it is in neutral. I let off the gas and stop the truck. I wait 5seconds, give it some gas and it goes without any problems. I floor it down my road and it goes perfectly.
I go passed my house and up the rest of my street without any problems. I take some side streets back to my house... no problems.
WTF???
I think my truck never got the tranny recall addressed.

The recall on these truck is that a plug may fall out... and cause the truck not to go into the 'Park' position at all. But I have heard from other people that they are also known for not going into reverse, and if I don't feel the truck jump a little as I shift into reverse then it needs the tranny looked at. Exactly what my truck did. I shift into reverse and you dont even feel the slight jerk that you should... its as if I shift into neutral.
My tranny was slipping at first... it shook about 5times then started to move smoothly backward. I went probably 20mph up my street to the circle-around, start to turn around there and I gave it a little gas and it just revs. I stop and put it in park, wait for a few seconds -- praying the tranny doesn't go there and then lol. I go back into drive and it moves off with no problems. I gas it down my street to about 50mph... no problems. I drive about a mile up my street with no problems. Take a few side streets back and it acts as if that never happened lol.

Trash in the valve body...Ford explorers are notorious for that, and it sounds like the same thing. JMO

no its not trash in the valve body that truck should have the 545RFE transmission in it we have had alot of issues with these bleeding down and converter drain back there are several things that can be done but I would need the VIN to run a VIP through dealer connect but probably needs the updated filters and the tcm reflashed

I had a 98 Ram SS/T... never gave me one damn problem. Shows how cheap automakers are getting.

Steve,
I know that you a chrysler repair guy and all, but I was wondering if you could answer a question about the new 4.7 V8 Flex fuel motors. When I have my A/C off and it is sitting at a red light it skips and idles around 400-500 rpm, why is that? I took it to dodge 2 times already and they said that they are waiting on some new software to be approved for it.
Thanks,
Rob
Good Luck with your tranny Rebel! I had the same thing happen with my 97 Chevy. I lost reverse and only could go up to 35MPH to get it to the shop.
