I would stay away from the outlaws unless you are a VERY VERY SERIOUS MUDDER.. They are a tire that is in the mud or on the trailer. I have read that they are the ultimate mud tire and that they are no good for anything else. The 589s are a good tire for mostly mud and a little trails. The gators would be a good choice too but i have not had any persionsal expirence with gators and have not done much recharch on them. I would imagine that they would do good. I would find somebody that has gators and then compare and then base it on price.

outlaws are really bumpy in my opinoin, tread is a bit flimsy. if ur doing mud/dirt just get mudzillas they take a bit of power then id really would like but they go through most and last longer in my opinion 589s look nice and have heard nice htings so go for what ever has the most "commplements" and fits ur style best
jsut my .02

Yea Chuck, I have them on mine and they are a very good tire but they are not for a bike that sees allot of mud. They are more for a 60/40 mud and trail split. (60 being trail). They are real light though and they don't take much go juice to get going. But they are not as good as the 589s mud wise but they ride allot better.

Mud bugs are a good coice too. They are smooth on hardpack once you get rolling. They are lighter than ITP 589s. And will out mud Lights, gators, and 589s.
But if you ar estuck on the 589s I would reomend the Titan 589 M/T, instead of the ITP 589 M/S. The Titans have rim guards, and siping to get better traction, with a negligable weight difference. You can get cosmetic blems for $35 each.
Find a better tire for that price
Vamps are also fairly smooth on trails, but they tend to be heavy.

I have Outlaws but I got a 4x4 to play in the mud and water, so if you dont plan to play in the mud and water alot they are not the tire for you. They are definetly a rough tire on gravel but I stay in the mud as much as I can

I own 589s and very pleased w/ them. I do alot of trail riding, not as much deep mudding, but the mud I do get in its not wise to be behind me . 589s is the way to goRBL

The tires makes all the difference between getting stuck or not, using 2wd in places where I would have had to use 4wd with the old tires. Very satisfied with the way it was pulling at the powerlines this weekend. Sorry but I forgot my camera so I have no pictures yet. But I did cross the pond yesterday.
