BLUE let me know how that EGR block off works out for you.
what do you think about doing the block off good idea or not ? ? ? My thought is you just can not put and EGR valve on a Diesel Engine and Expect it to work. This is coming from a guy who has workd on FORD diesel engine from the 6.9 idi on up through the 6.0 liter fiasco. Tese things will carbon and soot up sll of the time, the EGR comes on when the vehicle is at Cruising speeds which on an over the road type vehicle that would not be so bad, but for the daily driver it is awful. IF the Block off works I am all for it. hey man I don't know if you ahve heard of the site but www.powerstroke.org I have talked to alot of guys that have done this mod to there trucks and have had no problem I have talked to numerous ford techs on there and they say its the best thing for these trucks |

Blocking the EGR off will set a check engine light unless you use a SCT to alter the programming. Say goodbye to warranty.
I have an SCT and the EGR is already shut off I am getting headstuds put in in about a month so while they have the cab off I am going to have the mech slide the block off plate in there and I have till Sept on my warranty so thats not a big deal expecially since my dealer cool with it |

I got my truck back on Wednesday. turns out it needed a complete new top end.
so is she runing better now dale I wish you would have know it was the HG and had them put studs in for you so you would never had to worry about that again ! ! ! I just got my Headstuds in last night just waiting for the mech to be ready to do the work for me |

I'm a service consultant at Heintzelman's Truck Center off of John Young Parkway and we have two of the best 6.0L techs around. We get recommended by Ford once the other area dealerships can't fix the customer's concern after multiple attempts. I wouldn't recommend doing the egr cooler block off until after warranty is expired!! But after that, hopefully the block off will keep the 6.0L together and out of the service department. I have a few fleet customer's that have long gone past the warranty period and have had good luck w/the block off. The SCT recommendation is also a good one so you don't have to stare at a check engine light all the time!!
