Another non points, no pee-wee or youth quads race, but a race nontheless. And on new land.
This is another SADRA event. You know them boys know how to lay out a course.

Havent decided yet. I raced it last year, it was OK but not my favorite type of course. I prefer the races that dont have MX tracks in them. I'm too old for that stuff, thats why I do XC and not MX.

I've out on the property a few weeks ago helping SADRA.  It is a cool piece of land. It will definitely be a fun time.

From the FTR Forum

We had a couple very fast guys come out and ride it Sunday. They were all smiles. There is no dust what so ever right now with one section on Sunday we might have to take out if we get to much rain on Wednesday, other than that, it's absolutely perfect. Good solid dirt, got some slick mud in one section which is wide enough so there won't be any bottle necks, hard pack hills/ridges to ride over, nice flow to the course. Unlike Sweetwater, there is only 30 feet of palmettos to ride over. I don't see any whoops developing, just braking bumps to deal with.

As aways, a few things to remember:
We will allow folks to ride in the pits, as long as everyone is of legal age and can abide by the pit riding rules set by FTR.If it gets out of hand or starts getting out of control, we will exercise our right to have all machines pushed to the starting line. Don't let your neighbor ruin it for you, everyone knows the rules and will be handed a flyer at the gate stating the FTR pit riding rules. We will back any and all FTR officials 100% when someone is caught . We would rather have our club members out on the course doing what they do best rather than having them in the pits baby sitting.
We will also allow folks to walk out past the gates to view the course, but no vehicles. This means bikes, quads, golf cates, mules, side by sides, minis, ect.
When you walk out there, please don't throw your bottles and trash out in the mans woods and pasture. We will have a trash can at each gate so you can dump your trash there.

A dumpster will be available at the entrance/exit gate for your convience.
No campfires on the pasture, this is a working ranch with a hundred or so head of cattle that uses this pasture, build your fires in a fire box , grill, or in some sort of container.

As said in a previous post, this is brand new property, brand new owner, and the only time we will be able to make a first impression. Our landowner is a little concerned as he is waiting to see how so many people can camp beside each other and have no problems.Lets everyone have a great weekend, have fun, be safe, and enjoy each other.

Our landowner is allowing us to visit his property in hopes that we will support his involvement in Project Gaduation for his county high school. He will have breakfast, lunch, and dinner both days starting Friday evening. Please support his efforts.A full menu will be posted here.

Thats about it for now. 7 miles on Saturday with lap time around 17-18 minutes and Sunday with over 11 miles with lap times in the mid 20 minutes depending on if we have to take anything out or reroute.

Menu:

Friday Supper 5-8pm

Cheeseburgers - $3
Hot Dog - $2
Chili - $2

The first timer I brought is now hooked like the rest of us though, so thats one more for the next quad scramble Grin.

Man that stinks. I hate mechanical troubles. More money!$$$! I did not see you broke down out there? Where did it happen? How?

Man I had so much fun. To save some money, I teamed up with a LONG time FTR member, Dave Dunick. We split fuel costs to be able to go. It sure is nice seeing those you've come to know and love. It was equally sad to not see so many faces. More are not there than are and that stinks. These races are not for points, but are a race nonetheless and are a blast. Wish Uncle Bush was really looking out for our interests instead of his and Cheney's.. Gas went from $.93 per gallon to $3.60 in his term. AND our boys and girls are still being killed. For what?
Sorry. I just get so worked up and frustrated with that whole mess. And don't get me started on illegal immigration! LOL!!
Anyway, The Senior row shares the same row with the Super Seniors. You would think by the class title that it would be a bunch of old slow guys. You might have the old part right, but they are anything but slow.
I got a bad start again thanks to the STUPID cam mod I let some %$^&! talk me into doing. I have to quit complaining about it and just put it back to stock. I had to work hard to catch up to the leader, Keith Knauss, #777, The Wildman! who was out alone in the lead. In the process, I ran into the back of a guy on a Bill Ballance edition YFZ. We were all haulin' arse in a dusty trail bumper to bumper when this hairpin left came up and we were all hard on the brakes, but he stayed on the brakes and kind of moved into the line I was taking to go around him. My front end completely came off the ground and was on the back of his brand new quad. It was like my quad was horny and was gettin' some. We rode like this for ten feet as I kept giving it the throttle in my mad state of mind to win. It was like my quad was humping. LOL!! That sounds funny, but I was laughing so hard on the way home when I was describing what happened to my friend, Dave.
Anyway, I got around him and caught up to the Wildman. We rode like that for the rest of the lap. Then in the second lap he waved me by. He was toying with me and I didn't know. I poured it on and after a while I didn't see him. So I backed off a little catching my breath and nursing my camel back. Wasn't long before I heard him coming on strong. Sure enough, he was making a charge and I had to do the same to fend him off. He wanted around me BAD!! We would hit the straights and I had to give my YFZ everything it had to keep his Honda behind me. At one point, I thought he had me, but I never let off the throttle in 5th gear bouncing off the rev limiter and through some double greens. Through the woods I was on two wheels and squeezing through trees just praying I wouldn't catch one with a front tire!!
We ran like that for the second and the third lap. Each time coming through the scoring chicane in an exciting battle for sure. During the 4th and final lap, I found neutral shifting out of a right turn in that Fennel grass silt that was out there in those open fields. That was all he needed to get around me. I found second and chased, but it was no use. He took it all the way to the finish line. One of the best races I have had to date.
When I crossed the finish line, I felt like I had been beaten and although we were in different classes and I won mine, I still feel we were racing each other. We started together so in my mind and others, his I'm sure, I got second.
I waited and found the guy I had hit and apologized , but he understood and was unhurt.
THATS RACING!!
This time we had several different people from out of state getting ready for the GNCC. Angel Atwell was there running the A class. Taylor Kiser and Brandon Sommers were there. The Father Son duo, Chuck and Chuck Piper and Wes Kraft put on one Hell of a start with those pros. No one was letting off in the first turn and everyone was in awe as they defied the odds and the laws of physics.
Don't forget Gatorback is next week!
See you at the races!!

Sorry I missed it. We have been short handed at work and I have to work on most Saturdays for the last 2 months. Luckily we hired someone. Hopefully he will work out and I will be off on Saturdays again. I will be at the GNCC for sure!

Man, what a weekend. I got a bruised tailbone, bruised ribs, I am urinating blood due to my kidney taking my 300 lb fat @$$ flying through the air and falling on it. All in the first double green! I cant explain the pain, cant walk. After my wreck I stood up, not knowing where I was, what I was doing. Looked at my quad flipped over, my handle bar was bent down vertically, throttle was broken. I caught my breath, jumped all and gave it all I had to finish the race. I got 2 laps in Wink Every bump was sharp excruciating pain in my back and kidneys. I was asked after the race by my girlfriend "Does that make you never want to do that again?" my response "makes me never want to wreck again". All of this pain is so worth all of it. I met some great guys out there that I rode my class with, also met scott and a few others. All of you guys were awesome and welcoming. After I am done healing I cant wait til the next race. I am hooked Wink I will post pictures of the quad and bruising later, its impressive.
