Back in Late November I had my piston to crap out on me. It cracked in 5 different places around the wristpen area. This caused play and began to rattle. A peice of the rod broke off and fell down into the motor and did some minor damage to my cases. I've had the parts for a few weeks now and a couple of days ago I began the repair/rebuild process. Here are some pics of the damage and where I am on the rebuild.

So rob tell us about the rebuild. Did you go bigger or just a new piston?

Well, I had the WR crank, highcomp piston, portwork, and cams. I've twice tried to get 6months out of ride time out of a JE highcomp piston and they both cracked. Just my luck on this one it did some damage. So I'm now going with the 06 crank/rod and the stock 06 piston.

You're right about that Steve. I'll surely have it ready for next month  Wink  . Now that I think about it, I forgot to hit you on Saturday. I slept on and off Friday, Sat, and Sunday (Fell asleep during the Pats game). Friday I had to do a Mock call out and was up at 2am that morning. So my weekend was basically done.

Yes! The one that I'm replacing is only a year old and is fine. But since I had to tear the whole motor apart I figured to replace it. It's only $15. As far as your tensioner, that should be fine.

Well, finally finished the motor a few days ago after being completely swamped with work. I found that I had a crack in the nickasil on my cylinder so that set me back a few days also. Took it out yesterday and rode with Dreth. We put some hard riding in and I'm definitely out of shape. Got tired after the 1st 15 miles  Sad  .

did you do the oil mod and oil pump upgrade on that you can use the 07 yamaha yfz side cover and oil nozzle and oil pump that way you wont crack your piston at the wristpin anymore due to lack of oil there

It wasn't due to a lack of oil. I already have the 07 oil upgrade done. I was trying to get longevity out of a setup that was designed for racing. The JE high comp piston just wouldn't hold up for me so I did away with it and went back to stock.

Good job,

Thanx JT, but I'm done with all the HP mojo. I don't race anymore so I don't need big HP #'s. I still have the portwork and cams which still give me nice hp with no issues on durability. If I were to start back racing I'd surely go with you guys.
