Hey, I would'nt use a heli coil, it is a risk that it gets in side the motor, if it was me, I would get a bigger plug you from a parts store and retab, always check the seal, clean the thread and never over tight the plug.

I really don't, but you have to meassure or get a die set and find the closest, you need to have the replace one to make sure everything fits fine

You should go a couple of mm, so you can go over the old thread, and make sure you get a plug with the same tipe of thread 1.50

Couple of tricks for when you drill/ tap it. If you can have someone blow compressed air through the oil fill hole. It will keep the metal shavings from going into the motor. They will blow out as the bit cuts. You can also put wheel bearing grease on the tap and drill bit and clean it often. This will also trap the metal shavings and you don't need air. Good Luck!

Uh-oh, that doesnt sound very good.  If I were in that situation, i would risk the chance of retapping it and possibly not doing it right or using the wrong bolt or what ever else could happen.  Your best bet, but it might not be the cheapest, would be ot bring it into a machine shop and have them retap it to the correct size.
