If diesel inventories rose higher, then why the hizell are we paying so damn much for diesel. It is less refined than unleaded fuel!!!! Angry

These gas prices are making family trips or vacations harder each year.

isnt that the truth, iv passed so many road trips is not funny

sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.  my parents wouldnt let me get a street bike due to the fact most drivers treat people on them crappy and cut them off or something stupid which is sad.  i dont have enough money for a truck so i wanted a street bike but it didnt happen so my 400ex idea seems pretty good haha  i've done it before but speeding fines and the fines for riding something not "street legal" suck, everyone tells me to ride my quad to school and i will when gas prices go up higher

I was in high school here in Jupiter, FL back in the early 80's and we would ride our ATC's to school. This was before the building/developement boom. It was pretty neat to see all the 3 wheelers out in the bicycle area.
Ahh... those days are long gone.

Here is a few links for you. The first one is fuel prices from 1993

http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/pet/hist/mg_tt_usw.htm

Now the second is a good read. Lets think about it. The economy is doing much better now and we are making a heck of a lot more money with Bush in the office then when Clinton was in office. (Hasn't wages went up) I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth and everything I have, I worked hard for. Think about just ten or 15 years ago at how many on this forum couldn't buy a used quad, more less a new one to ride, and how many didn't have a computer to get online with. We couldn't afford it. Fuel prices may have gone up, there is nothing we can do about it except sit around and blame our president. Maybe we need to lower our standards of living some and then we can afford fuel. Here is a link.

Your a real Einstein.  First off how many people work for less money each year, your wages should always be going up you idiot.  You either get a raise or a cost of living increase or a promotion perhaps but it should always be going up.

As far as people having computers now and not 10-15yrs ago well no sh$t, prices on computers have dropped so much anyone can buy one now.

Do you have a clue what is going on in this country now?  Housing market going bust, stock market is only ok at best and may be on the decline, fuel prices going thru the roof.   And not to mention the war in Iraq.  Who is at fault for this Clinton, no it's your beloved president.  Why don't you do some homework and try to find out who helped Bush develop his energy policy and then come back on here and apologize to everyone for you being so clueless.  Give me a break

It's funny how the realists (like myself) simply state that the economy is in the toilet for the common man and one of the first things a die hard republican will blindly spew out is "well the stock market is doing great"  so the economy is strong. WELL,,,,,,,,,,,   since only 10% of the "middle class" citezens actually invest in the market, that makes the other 90% of investors going to the "upper class".

It really shouldn't take a genius to figure out that YES! the market is doing well,  however, that is only an indication that the rich upper class Americans are doing great.  Meanwhile, a large portion of the middle class is selling/loosing everything they own just to feed and provide for their families.  This unfortunately, is the republican way, IE. the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.  The gas prices is just one very visible symptom of the republican system.

You call me an idiot, Lets look at who the real idiot here. The housing market is going bust because interest rates were low and it would allow people to afford more home. But now that interest rates is on the rise they can no longer afford that same home. A lot of those loans were variable rate and people were overpaying what the market should have been. The real estate agents were raking in the cash but now that the rates are up, people can no longer afford those expensive homes. I do not think that our government should buy out all those people that went out and purchased homes that they could not afford anyhow. How many people do you hear that talk about buying property in Georgia and Alabama because land is cheaper there. All these gready people are doing is runing the true Florida natives from there own state. You home is your most important assett and when you purchase it you should account for fuel prices and food to increase and give yourself a little leave way in between. Our society has got to have the best homes and are so tied up with keeping up with our friends that we will stretch our budget to look like we keep up. My home is not the greatest and I don't own acres of property but it serves us well, we can afford it and we are HAPPY with it.  Now I must ask, are you one of the idiots that are crying about not being able to afford you house payment now that fuel has went up a little?

What I see happened to the housing market is retarded speculators and all the flip your house morons who mistakenly thought real estate could never go down in price, and they were all going to get rich. History has taught us that it can and does and does bust sometimes. It isn't the banks fault, mortgage companies or the real estate folks problem IMO, it is the people who over extended themselves because they were blinded by dollar signs. It is the same thing that drives people to send the 'King of Nigeria's" son a bunch of money to help him smuggle a fortune out of his country for a big cut...greed.

I have news for you, fuel prices influence everything. For every penny it rises, goods, produce and everything else goes up $0.50 give or take. It isn't people skipping family trips to make a mortgage payment that screws everyone, it is milk going to $4 a gallon, crap steak going to $11 a pound because farmers and truckers get crushed first, which hits manufacturers etc.  No one wants to take a hit, so they raise prices and the chit rolls downhill till it hits the folks who just have to take their paycheck with no recourse but sell their stuff.

I think Tina Turner had the right idea going on at Barter Town.

Might not smell quite as nice as running behind a 18 wheeler running old KFC oil, but hey, pig chit is free and the local sewer plants just burn of the methane.

Why should I lower my standards for living when I make good money? Maybe you think it's just fine to lower yours or keep it the same as you make more money but I don't bust I disagree day in and day out so that I can live the same and be happy with it. It is very easy to blame Bush for fuel problems in '04 I bought my first diesel and it was $1.63 a gallon at the time and was $.10 a gallon cheaper than 87 octane. Now it's more than double in less than 4 years. That increase was mostly unexpected and took a good chunk out of my budget. I feel much worse for the Truckers that make a living and have no choice but to pay the price and it not only drives up their costs but it cuts into their profits.

Housing problems are a combination of things not just the government except for Florida. Tax rates are through the roof anywhere you go, insurance after the hurricanes has also skyrocketed. I played it safe with my house but between fuel, taxes and insurance I now have $600 less a month to work with. No I'm not one of the crying people as I made sure to have enough room to work. However how many people could afford to take on another $600 a month in bills for things they already have? Alot of people bought homes thinking an adjustable rate mortgage was fine because the market was so good and are being burned. They took on more than they could chew and the finance companies should take a good amount of the blame also for approving all these sub prime mortgages.

Some of you guys throw insults around like you are on Craig's List or something.

Focus on the real issues and not the smoke screen your leaders want you to see. There are ways to make your current cars and trucks get around 100mpg, but the oil companies have bought all the patents.
Our country is in desperate need of inventors. Our society has focused too much on music and sports. Who are the people we are supposed to look up to? Thugs in sports? Druggies in music?

the reason the housing market went bust is the homeowners insurance rates.they just foreclosed on my house because i could no longer afford it.and I had a fixed rate mortgage at 5.5% when we bought the house our payment with taxes and insurance were $900 after the insurance and tax increase $1750 and that was with homestead.yes my wages went up as they do every year a measly  $20 a week.not nearly enough to keep up with expenses.

Bill

Before people sign a contract they should look at it closely to see how much it can go up if things change. Some people think that our tax dollars should bail these stupid people out. Sorry but I don't. These people made a decision and purchased to much home and overpay for it, its their problem, not our governments. Seems when times get tough they automatically want to blame our president which is BS. Just like during hurricane Elena. People knew that it was heading their way and they knew that New Orleans was below sea level. I'm sorry but if I lived there, I would have walked out of there if thats what I had to do. No, it was easier to blame the president.
