Cool, thanks..

Relating to Gibsons, yes, they have good prices it seems on the outside, but you really have ot look at the trucks with a fine tooth comb. I went up there Saturday to see what they would give me for a trade and I left feeling that i should have called the cops for attempted Sodomy....But then i went down the road to National (or something like that) and these guys were the biggest bunch of idiots Ive ever talked to. I pulled in with my Mustang (which is posted on here for those that dont know) and the guy asked me what i was looking to get out of it. I told him I had about 40 grand into it (I use it for a show car and it is an 05 with 14k on it) but that realistically I knew i would only be able ot get around 25 from a dealer. So the idiot goes into the store and pulls up a list of what 05 stock Gts with 30-40,000 miles are going for at auction. I told the moron that you certainly could not compare a stock GT with triple the miles in auction condition, for a show car with 14,000 miles that has won a trophy in EVERY show that it has ever been in. THe guy says " Well, aftermarket stuff dont mean anything to anybody when we try to resell it" So then he asks me what kinda truck Im looking for anyway. I point out a nice F250 Quad cab with a 6" lift and big tires and I ask him how much. He says, "well, that truck has thousands into the lift and tires so it is a lot more than a stock F250" so I say, I thought you just told me that aftermarlet stuff doesnt count for anything. Then he stumbleds all over his words and I left telling him Id never buy anything for you idiots.
So thats my experience with National. I do however have ot say the guy from Gibsons was very nice and apologized for having to offer such a low price for my car, but he said they would just have ot wholesale it because they didnt sell cars. i understand that and would buy a truck from them in the future as long as I really looked it over.

In a way the dealer was right your modificiations do mean nothing. Some dealers won't even look at a trade with modifications because they can't even resell it and many times they end up auctioning it off so that some smaller dealer can sell it that won't have to worry about servicing a vehicle that has been modified. Some vehicles like lifted trucks sell well so they would keep that and they usually try and sell them for a week or two before sending them off to auction. Your best bet is to strip off all your modifications and sell them separately or sell the car outright if you can but a show car is a tough sell to anyone. I've owned tons of Mustangs, my sister has had 3 and in every case leaving them modified always yeilded a lower trade in and removing as many of the mods and bringing it back detailed or to another dealer always netted a better return. It sucks but dealers have been burned so many times on peoples modified vehicles they just would rather not deal with it unless they get it really cheap.
