SCHOOL 1967 vs. 2007

 
Scenario: Jack goes quail hunting before school, pulls into school
parking lot with shotgun in gun rack.

1967 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack's shotgun, goes to his
car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.

2007 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail
and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for
traumatized students and teachers.
   
Scenario: Johnny and Mark get into a fistfight after school.

1967 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up
best friends. Nobody goes to jail, nobody arrested, nobody expelled.

2007 - Police called, SWAT team arrives, arrests Johnny and Mark. Charge
them with assault, both expelled even though Johnny started it.

 Scenario: Jeffrey won't be still in class, disrupts other students.

1967 - Jeffrey sent to office and given a good paddling by the
principal. Returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class
again.

2007 - Jeffrey given huge doses of Ritalin. Becomes a zombie. Tested for
ADD. School gets extra money from state because Jeffrey has a
disability.
   

Scenario: Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car, and his Dad gives
him a whipping with his belt.

1967 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to
college, and becomes a successful businessman.

2007 - Billy's Dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy removed to foster
care and joins a gang. State psychologist tells Billy's sister that she
remembers being abused herself, and their Dad goes to prison. Billy's
mom has affair with psychologist.
 

Scenario: Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.

1967 - Mark shares aspirin with principal out on the smoking dock.

2007 - Police called, Mark expelled from school for drug violations. Car
searched for drugs and weapons.
   

Scenario: Pedro fails high school English.

1967 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English, goes to college.

2007 - Pedro's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear
nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for
graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against state
school system and Pedro's English teacher. English banned from core
curriculum. Pedro given diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a
living because he cannot speak English.
   
Scenario: Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from 4th of July,
puts them in a model airplane paint bottle, blows up a red ant bed.

1967 - Ants die.

2007 - Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Homeland Security and
FBI called. Johnny charged with domestic terrorism. FBI investigates
parents, siblings removed from home, computers confiscated. Johnny's Dad
goes on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.
 

Scenario: Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee.
He is found crying by his teacher, Heather. Heather hugs him to comfort
him.

1967 - In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.

2007 - Heather is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job.
She faces 3 years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.

The fights aren't like that LOL.  We have fights at our school alot, when that happens the our school deputy or security run to break it up and then they get 10days OSS automatically.  Now if something else happens like they cause a lifelong injury then all hell breaks loose.

Back in 8th grade I slit a kids eye open and he was bleeding everywhere.  I got 3days OSS and the only thing police related was that they had to call in the school deputy and just tell him. lol.

It is screwed up. Now kids just bottle everything up and gets a few guns and goes to school and takes their issues out on the whole school. Yep, looks like things are changing for the better. If  kid could get his azz beat a few times then he would change for the better.

That is so true.  I actually work in the School Board now, and heard someone say in the ESE Dept, that if you were accident prone it was a sign of ADHD..... OMG what is this world coming too.  Now if you are caught day-dreaming in class, they call all the specialist to see if they have Attention Defiect.  Ah day, it is called being a kid....

thats sad. i have a friend that was expelled 5 days ago cause he had been playing airsoft with his friends and forgot to take his gun outta the car. they checked it randomly and found it. now he is in a special school with the delinquents that have been addicted to drugs and all that crap. its a pretty screwed up society. all that happened cause he had a TOY gun. a TOY!!! crazy.

me too. they had several meetings with the administration and it took 12-14 days for them to come to a decision (he was suspended for those days too). now he is screwed over big time. he is a jr. too. probably gonna have to go to that special "criminal" school for 1.75 more years.
