Ocala is over as far as big group rides go. All of the big gathering and play areas are now closed.  Its really too bad because I have some great memories of those rides.  It would be better to plan a group to the new Motoplex. It would support the new facility and a place that actually welcomes us instead of harassing us.

as much as I hate to agree,,,,I agree.

I miss the old Ocala, and if I WERE to organize a big group ride coming out of the front yard of the cabin in Salt Springs, I THINK we MIGHT be illegal till we cross a certain line in the woods about 2 miles away.

but that would be wrong to invite people up there, so I'm guessing if people were to show up WITHout my knowledge,,,,,how can I stop people from showing up?

especially if they were to all show up on a certain date to be determined ;-)

I wouldn't mind supporting the Motoplex but for people that live down south, you're talking 400 miles each way.  I don't see why we can't just bite the bullet and everybody meet at Big Scrub or Delancy.  It's more about being together and having fun than having a place to wring it out.  I wouldn't be opposed to seeing how many people have access to Suburban Estates and organizing a 1 day ride there.  If enough of us have keys, we could make it work.  I can't see letting in several hundred people but if, say, 10 of us have keys, I don't see a problem with each of us bringing 5 - 10 guests.  To show our appreciation, we could make a donation to the property owners association to help them repair the equipment they own to keep the main grades smooth.  Heck, I would even clear off my lot (5 acres) so people would have a place to pitch a tent or drag a pop-up back (no possible way to get a motorhome or travel trailer back that far in one piece).  Just a thought.  Any other SE owners on here that might be willing to organize something?

No offense, Paul.  I would hope that everybody that's within reasonable driving distance of the Motoplex supports your efforts.  My family and I will too, eventually, but it is terribly far for us to travel for a day of riding.  I plan to tie my trip to the 'plex with one of my trips to Alabama to visit family.  My point is that if we are going to try to organize a large group ride, let's try to do it at a location that is more centrally located.  That's all.

None taken, but all I can tell you guys is that we had a program to open more of these atv parks all within this state, I hope that by opening this one, that we have proven we had the desire and ability to do so.  The opening of the other parks however is obviously ABSOLUTELY contigent upon the sucess of this one. I understand that one in North Florida would be much less popular than one in S Florida, but we have all been suprised by the low level of support the park has gotten so far.  As it stands right now, the last thing we are considering is opening up another one  Grin.

If the level of activity in the park picks up, then we will get back on with the program to open others,  a group ride from here would have been a great way for the members to show support for our cause and they would have a great time in the process. No big deal either way though.  Wink

I say we have the group ride at the Motoplex, what better way to show Paul our support and two to have fun at the same time. I dont mind driving, and who says it just has to be for the day. When I go to the Motorplex I would usually say overnight or the whole weekend. So what weekend are we talking about in Jan 08? So we can get this ball rolling.

Just how big is the Motoplex Paul?? I mean if you / we do a group ride there how many miles can we ride before we start going over and over the same trails?? The old Ocala runs lasted for hours and went for many miles...people even had to bring some extra gas on some of the runs..I'm not trying to be a stick in the mud but i don't want to have to travel for 2 hours and only get to ride on the same 10-15 miles of trails all day you know what I mean?

I dont care if you ride a 100 miles in Ocala, every mile looks the same. I have been on and led many rides up there and all of the "cool spots" that we used to stop at are closed now.  The motoplex is not real big on acreage but the owner is making the most of it and providing something for everyone. The only thing keeping me away so far is a full race schedule.

We have a ton of places to ride, the motoplex is not about riding for miles though, we are not trying to compete with Ocala forest, 607 square miles versus our 204 acres  Grin

I bet if you come out you will have a fun day though.

We have a UTE Xtreme course, that is the most fun ride I have been on. We have creeks with log crossings that we don't mind you driving through. We have lakes that we don't mind you driving in, we have a hill climb area, we have a nice mx track, a peewee track, we are in the middle of building an obstacle course (will be finished in a week or 2). We have mud drag strip, we are constructing a 300' sand drag (we have a temporary one for our halloween 4 event race), we have 9 miles of one way trails that you can go as fast as you like down, we have miles of additional 2 way trails, some dry, some through water hazards. We have mud pits with an elevated trail through them, we have new a swamp trail. Night rides, etc. etc.

Like I said, the place is built for fun. There are definitely places, like the forest with much, much longer trails, and if that's all you like doing (and while I find just riding on numbered rds or trails for miles on end boring, I know lots of people like it), our facility is not for you. However if you want a fun varied day of atv fun, hopefully we will see you out there.

It would be perfect for an atvfl group ride, free camping parking, tons of varied things to do. One more thing we offer.....no sticker needed.

everyone knows how much I love Ocala,,,been riding out there since '89, and frequently would have to check my gas tank to see how much further I could go before I had to turn around,,,however I'm beginning to like the Motoplex better than Ocala just because of the rules.

I went up the the plex for a couple days and didn't think I would have much fun, but had promised people I would go,,,,,,,I suddenly started having fun and wanted to stay.

And Paul will demonstrate his British weenie hiding dance in a thong.

Seriously though, I haven't been to the Motoplex....YET. But I cannot wait to go. I think Paul deserves our support and I am sure we'd all have a great time.

Don't everybody go getting their feathers all ruffled up now!! Wink I got the answer I was looking for...I do intend to frequent the motoplex quite often...but the thread stated a group ride, and when I hear group ride i think long runs (Ocala...I know its changed and not the same  Cry  )...So at the Motoplex I'll call it a fun day with varying types of courses to ride on.  Grin

Stop talking and start packing the motorplex it is...   PaulS thank you for your support and i for one will support this. Its not easy to aquire 200+ acres of land for riding atv's and just opening it up to the members of this site for our use. Give me a date and i will be there hell i started this thread i'm gonna see it though. I just need more details on the camping situation and what we can bring and not bring. If not Osceola will also do just fine. We just need to make up our minds.

Hi Runfox.

Camping is primitive and free. We are adding more amenities as we go.

Want to know how much fun you will have?
