Thanks for the input. I was leaning the same way and am a little leary of the chineese stuff.
My plans are to have it tore down and inspected. If it has to be bored then I'll just get that big bore kit. If it is just a simple piston and ring job I'm going back with stock for 110 bucks. Then I'll just throw on a new carb and pipe to give it some pep.
I would really like to get him a XR 80. The XR 100 is too big for him right now. The XR 70 seems a bit too under powered but with even the stock piston and with a pipe it might be good to go. Only time will tell. I've given some thought about trading my 95% restored KX for something nice for the boy. I'll include a pic incase whoever reads this has something like that in mind.
