about how long should a stock banshee that hasnt been ridden to death last before needing a top end? i know its pretty vague but i thought i'd ask anyway..and what are the signs that a top end is going out? thanx

they can last awhile if your not to hard on it, it's usally $400 ish to rebuild the whole top end (bore, pistons), i've got close to 200 miles on my topend in my banshee right now, and i've hard drag raced it and done tons of trail riding with it and i'm not expierncing that much loss of compression now

(200 miles is rough as i rode my 4x4 about the same if not less than my banshee and put about 200 miles on that before i lost track)

thanx! and how do i know how do i check my compression? i was kind of surprised to feel how easy these banshees kick over..feels like a blaster i once owned..is it because of the twin cyclinders?..because 100cc's less..my kx250 is a bear compared to this

it's actually pretty easy tp kick over even with a new topend, go to autozone and they sell compression checkers that you just screw into the plug hole and kick over at wide open throttle(not running) till the gauge stops

both, each side will have a diffrent compression, my dad got one from harbor freight that has like a rubber ned on it instead of a screw in type that you basically take the tank off and push down on real hard an have some one else kick over for you but make sure the size that screws in is the right size

the kind w/ the rubber tip will work, but can get threaded one IMO is easier to use, readings should be within 10% of each other, in other words pretty close.
thread gauge into spark plug hole while engine is warmed up a keep kickin it W.O.T. untill needle doesnt go up any more

Call auto parts stores, i got mine that comes w/ different fittings for different type plugs for around $50.00 from advance,
comes in a clear & black plastic case, name brand is "Actron".

Advance iloan's tools like pullers & stuff, not sure about a compression tester, actually the way it works is instead of them loaning it to you they will tell you to buy it, use it & bring it back for a refund, not sure if they do that w/ compression gauges but you could ask.
